In reply to: [WordPress Hit Counter] WordPress Hit Counter v2.6 BREAKS WordPress 3.2.1Please vote the plugin “broken’ then at:
https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wordpress-hit-counter/There still does not seem to be any update/fix for the WordPress hit Counter as of yet.
Ok, this issue has been submitted a the fix has been submitted to WordPress and has been fixed in WordPress 3.1.2. Please close this thread now (unless you are still having problems). It looks like it is just getting spammed now…not that I don’t like the praise, even if it is spam :)!
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How are unregistered users posting spam comments – WP 3.0.1?I am seeing this as well, and it is really annoying…does anyone know how to fix this problem? I have it set to require users be registered, but that doesn’t seem to stop it from happening. Any ideas about how to fix this problem?
Thanks,
GeoffreyGHi Fivexs,
Thanks for the follow up, however, I don’t think you quite understand what is going on here. It does NOT look like you are using custom permalinks in you site, which is why this is working fine for you (after disabling Canonicalized URLs). The problem is in the Canonicalization of the URL is broken somehow (I haven’t figured it out yet)…but I suspect that WordPress has done something that isn’t support by IIS (in fact, I’m 99% sure this is the case, I just don’t know the exact problem). Anyway, thanks for the follow up here, but I’m not sure you can help here…
Thanks anyway,
GeoffreyGYes please, let us know how you fixed the problems with Permalinks, there are at least 3 or 4 people on this post that would like to know. If the fix is solid, I will even submit it to WordPress to see what they think!
Thanks,
GeoffHey Fivexs,
How did you get past the broken post links problem when Canonical URLs are disabled? Please let us all know…if you really have a solution that is and this isn’t just an ad…
Thanks,
GeoffreyGActually, 123milliseconds, this issue it still open, as it is not 100% fixed…
Hello All,
After my previous post, it looks like I’m still seeing a similar problem to wordpressn00b77, so it looks like the fix only half works!! When I try to click any links to posts, I’m taken back to the home page, and not the post page that the URL shows. Page links still work though, it just seems to be Post links that are broken for me.
I’ve tried the fixes to canonical.php file that daniel6683 and rvirtue describe, and it does fix the original problem of the home page not loading, but it does not fix the problem of links not working.
Are there any other suggestions?
Thanks,
GeoffreyGHello EZPZSolutions,
Thanks for the follow up. Yes, that is the case, I am running WordPress in a Windows environment…and it sounds like the EZPZ One Click Backup plugin this won’t work that case. Hmm, just a suggestion, but you might want to post that on the Plugin homepage at www.ads-software.com, that fact was not very clear to me until you mentioned it. So, too bad for me I guess…and again thanks for the follow up…
Thanks,
GeoffreyGOk, I found a solution (at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/ran-auto-update-for-31-and-now-site-doesnt-work-deleted-mait-mode-file/page/2?replies=36#post-1970036 ) and I wanted to post for everyone else!
I have Windows hosting through a 3rd Party host and when I updated to WordPress 3.1, I got the following error when I went to my home page: This webpage has a redirect loop. Here are the steps I took to solve this problem:
1. Go to the WP admin page at: https://your_site_name/wp-admin/ (it should still work, even if your home page doesn’t).
2. Login and go to the Plug-ins admin page.
3. Install and activate the “Permalink Fix & Disable Canonical Redirects Pack” plugin (at https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/permalink-fix-disable-canonical-redirects-pack/).
4. Go back to your homepage, it should work!Anyway, I really hope this helps save someone else the problems and headache that I had!!! Good luck!

Just to be super clear, I have Windows hosting through a 3rd Party host and when I updated to WordPress 3.1, I got the following error when I went to my home page:
This webpage has a redirect loop
The webpage at <my site> has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer. Here are the steps I took to solve this problem:

Anyway, thanks again everyone for helping me with this problem!!! You guys are AWESOME!

In reply to: SMTP Settings for Go Daddy Email AccountsHello ibrar0,
Hmm, I’m not sure what the problem is here, but the error message at the bottom:
“SMTP -> ERROR: Failed to connect to server: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
(10060)”suggests a connection problem to the server. A couple of things I might try:
1. Verify all of the setting in the plugin are exactly as I stated above (when I used different combinations of settings, the plugin always failed for me).
2. Check your user name and password settings and make sure they work to login into: https://login.secureserver.net/index.php. If you can’t login to that GoDaddy email server, then this is the problem and you will need to get the proper settings from GoDaddy.
3. This is kind of a long shot, but try using “relay-hosting.secureserver.net” as the “SMTP Host” setting in the plugin.Anyway, I hope this helps and good luck!
