my guess is the only solution for ContactForm7 to remain a useful plug-in is to offer both reCaptcha2 and reCaptcha3 with the user to chose.

@buzztone sounds like a great idea!

my guess is that the best would be if ContactForm7 would have an option for users to chose whether to prefer reCaptcha2 or reCaptcha3…. just dreaming.
In this case I could continue with reCaptcha2, and then switch to reCaptcha3 at some future date, when that’s practical…

thanks @takayukister – I tried, decreased the threshold to 0.3 with the add_filter code you suggest and threshold at 3.0, but still gives the same error.

Also its not practical to change the functions.php file for every one of our sites for each future theme update.

Looks like I may have to switch to a different contact form solution. Or go back to a ContactForm7 version that uses reCaptcha2.

so still does not work with threshold at 0.3 …

I tried setting the threshold to 0.0 – in that case the messages get a green “It has been sent”, and I get the message into my inbox. So this could be a threshold issue. However, if I have to set the threshold to 0.0 in order to get the messages then reCaptcha3 makes no sense, and I’ll get a huge amount of spam as in the last few days….
