Just reinstalled and the problem seemed to be fixed. First plugin I reactivated was W3 Total Cache and it screwed up the “Details” box on the submit event page…no more text box there. Deactivated W3 and the text box is back. The search function seems to be fine so if I can just figure out how to get that text box active I should be good to go
edit: seems like the “text” tab works but the “visual” tab doesn’t let you do anything
Makes sense. I’m using Customizr theme currently.
I switched to Twenty Thirteen and it didn’t fix any of the issues posted above.
Deactivated all plugins except Events Manager and still have the same issues. The only plugins I even had active to begin with were W3 Total Cache, Google Libraries, WP Smush.it, and WP YouTube Lyte.

In reply to: [Customizr] Major load time issuesI did change themes and tried twentythirteen I believe. Same issue. I’m using the Customizr theme right now…couldn’t find many people having issues with it.
Oddly I just pulled it up and the Location fields are available now. The calendar still doesn’t work for the When aspect of things…and for some reason it says “to to” in the middle of the dates. Strange

In reply to: [Customizr] Major load time issues@doug2523: thanks for the feedback. I get times less than 2 seconds sometimes and then sometimes I will get 15-20 second times. It’s bizarre. I’m running W3 Total Cache, Cloudflare and have used P3 to check out the plugin situation. Can’t seem to find anything in particular that is causing an issue.
Ypanesa: thanks for checking it out. Confirms the randomness of it all. I’m still getting results of 90%+ on my page load performance using GTmetrix and Pingdom, so the slow load times are almost entirely based on the “waiting” portion of the load.
I just started a one month hosting account through a different provider. It may not be the issue at all but for $7 I’m willing to give it a try.
This plugin is all messed up. I checked “edit_events” and now you can at least get to a submission page. I gave permission for all of the options that would allow someone to create or edit their own events. It looks like this
However, the fields are all screwed up on the submit event page. The “When” boxes don’t pull up a calendar to select dates and it only lets you select from the locations already listed. At this rate I think I’m probably better off buying a plug-in for my event database

In reply to: Crazy "waiting" load times…common problem…Not that I’m aware of. I posted about this somewhere else too and it loaded quick for some people and terribly slow for others. It might not be AS bad right now either since there are zero plugins active.
My real concern is that speed test websites are showing crazy wait times. That pingdom result was damn near 80% “wait” time I think.
I was just using https://www.pagescoring.com/website-speed-test and got some times around 1 second…and then I would get “couldn’t connect to host” when I tried right after that. Maybe it is a hosting issue after all…I have no idea.
Yep…
and the “anonymous” user is listed as a “subscriber” account which has no posting capabilities…

In reply to: [Customizr] Major load time issuesHonestly at this point I think it’s something to do with the combination of plugins I’m using. It seems noticeably faster with all of the plugins deactivated. I thought I narrowed it down to WooCommerce being the problem earlier today but now it’s acting pretty slow again…who knows
Yeah I’m allowing anonymous event submissions.
Seemed like creating the anonymous user account should have done the trick…but now you can’t even get to the submit event page as a guest. Odd.
I created an anonymous account but now the “Submit Event” page shows the following…
Unauthorized Access
You do not have the rights to manage this Event.
We’re on the right track though…the events submitted by random users were being posted under the administrator account. Now I just need to know how to give “Subscribers” the ability to submit events but not publish them immediately.

In reply to: [Customizr] Major load time issuesUsing the tips given by rdell I got my GTmetrix speeds from 43% up to 90%. Everything looks A LOT better when I do the speed reviews. The strange thing is that sometimes there is a 10+ second delay before it starts loading the site…and then the speed review still gives me a 90%. So I’ll get a 90% score but the load time was like 11-14 seconds. I’m guessing that’s a hosting issue since the review is based on the scripts/coding of the site?
Honestly I’m not sure…is that a setting somewhere? As far as I know I haven’t changed that. I’m opening a different browser, making sure I’m not logged in and posting as a complete guest as far as I can tell.

In reply to: [Customizr] Major load time issuesRemoved the YT embeds but still having the same issue. Interesting.
And thanks rdell…I may be an amateur website builder but I’m damn near professional at browsing them and these load times definitely kill the site. I’m going to add Smush.it and see if that helps at all.
Just got a 43% page speed grade on GTMetrix…yikes

In reply to: [Customizr] Major load time issuesPre-loading as in the embedded youtube posts? Do those really take all that long to load?
