@austinforever – thanks for the note. We certainly understand the value of this feature and it is definitely still on our roadmap to explore. We’ll be looking more closely at updates to the plugin in the next few weeks. The embedded images are iframes which complicates the featured image request. We’re looking into some potential options though.

In the meantime, if there are any other additional features or changes that would make the plugin easier to use or more valuable, please feel free to reach out.

@wordsinthebucket – so sorry to hear you’re still having issues with the plugin. Let me know if there’s anything we can do on our end but guessing it’s a conflict with another plugin.

Regarding the blank embeds you’re seeing when pulling the embed code from the site, the team looked into it a bit based on your screenshots and looks like it’s related to some CSS issues. The embed on https://wordsinthebucket.com/the-grey-story-of-the-white-helmets isn’t rendering because of a css issue. Here is a screenshot with the basic issue called out – https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0I-8Jaxh5WDWkUzbXNkdzVVXzA/view

    Hope that helps!

    Hi @wordsinthebucket,
The Embed team is aware of this issue and looking into today. I’ll follow up here when I have more information.

Were you able to resolve the issue with the plugin appearing blank that you mentioned a few weeks ago? I’m unable to reproduce it still on my end but it may a conflict with another plugin, similar to the issue @dennisgtg had.

@dennisgtg – Thank you for reaching out. I’ve escalated the issue and we’re looking into it right now.

I’m not able to reproduce the issue at this time and was able to embed an image without trouble as well as view previously embeded images.

Can you please provide more information about your set up? What version of WP are you running, browser, etc.
    Thanks!

Hi @wordsinthebucket! Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the plugin. Unfortunately, I can’t see the screenshot but did some testing and was not able to reproduce a blank screen issue this morning. The plugin was working as expected for both logged in users and embedding images. What version of WordPress are you running and what browser?
    Thanks!

We are considering adding the featured image in the plugin but don’t have a date yet. Stay tuned though – it’s high on our list for WordPress.

Thanks for chiming in, kicksave20. And omg1, we hear you on how important the featured image would be!

For those who haven’t used this path yet, you can switch to the Getty Images Customer to license an image to use as a featured image. Simply click the Go to Customer Login in the upper-right corner of the Getty Images plugin window. If you don’t have an account, you can sign up at https://www.gettyimages.com/register.

I’ll close this thread and post any product announcements regarding featured images on a new thread if we can make that option available through Embed.

kicksave20, we’d love to hear any additional feedback (workflow improvements you’d like to see, UI improvements, etc) to make your life easier. Feel free to open a new post with your wishlist!

    Thanks again everyone!

It’s great to hear from everyone about how much of a difference this would make. As we consider this option, we have to consider 1) the size of the photo because of it’s larger resolution, and 2) how we protect our photographers’ rights in this expanded format.

Thanks for your understanding, and definitely stay tuned! It’s great to validate how important this functionality would be to our users.

Thanks for your review and specific feedback, Jose. It’s always helpful to hear what would help people take it to the next level. Can you let us know if you’re using the Embed or customer login version of the plugin? We’re currently evaluating options, but have to take a few factors into account for the Embed option.

Thanks again for your feedback and have a great weekend.

Thanks for calling this out as something that would be critically important to you, prward. We’ve gotten this feedback about this very functionality from other users as well. We do have to weigh this against the size of the images we make available for free (assuming that you’re using the Embed version and not the Customer Login version of the plugin), so we’re in the process of evaluating how far we can extend our Embed sizing.

And so, it’d be helpful to know more about which theme(s) you’re using so that we know what sort of dimensions you’re working with. Can you share more details so that we can better scope what this might look like on our end?

Thank you for your feedback and your honesty.

With that said, it’d be helpful to know more about which theme(s) you’re using so that we know what sort of dimensions you’re working with. Can you share more details so that we can better scope what this might look like on our end?

Thank you for your input and weighing in, Laurent. We are certainly weighing the options, and understanding the impact is helpful.

With the divi theme, it looked like there were a couple options for sliders, full width vs. not. Do you happen to have the pixel dimensions (especially pixel width) for the images you’re using as featured images? That’d help us a lot.

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

Thanks for calling this out as something that would be important to you, Richard. We’ve got a backlog of urgent and semi-urgent fixes to address in the next few months, but once those are taken care of, we’d love to come back around to improvements and the next iteration of the plugin.

As we consider the potential of setting embeds as a featured image, it’d be helpful to know more about which theme(s) you’re using so that we know what sort of dimensions you’re working with. Can you share more details?

Thank you for your feedback, and thanks for using the plugin!
