Hmm, excerpt calls are required to be included within the loop, unless you want to print the excerpt for a specific post, right?

When it comes to custom templates per widget. Yes – you could assign a custom CSS class to each widget, then within the code of your custom templates, you could conditionally alter the HTML based on the class associated with a widget. This way you could create an unlimited number of templates depending on the class of your widget ??

Would that work for your case scenario?

Thank you a lot Harald that indeed is my bug! I see that there are some missing assets within the code of the plugin. Didn’t catch that before although some similar issue has been reported already.

I appreciate you taking your time and reporting the bug. I’ll have it fixed with one of the releases.

Am I understanding correctly that the problem has been solved?

The first issue is not a bug – it’s a default markup of the plugin, that one can modify via his templates. This is explained in the documentation under the Creating Custom Templates section: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/acf-recent-posts-widget/.

May you please let me know what did you do to solve the second problem? Perhaps it may need me posting a bug fix.

Due to Christmas preparations, I won’t be able to help you out this week (I guess next week may also be problematic).

You are right, the shortcode code needs an update.

Perhaps you’d be interested in using this plugin temporarily: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/amr-shortcode-any-widget/?

This way you will be able to paste any widget as a shortcode directly within the content of a page / post.

This is a bug I could have never fixed.

There is a quick way to sort this out – close the window and reopen it again.

I’ll see if I’ll manage to fix it promptly (assuming it’s possible). Needless to say, my availability is a bit limited given the upcoming Christmas and New Years’ Eve.

Hello, again guys,

After speaking to the WordPress plugin team I have decided to keep the plugin in its current state.

The main reason for that is associated with the fact, that fixing the code, will trigger the same problem for the users using the current version.

And given the fact the number of reports was quite low, I will stick to it.

Is that ok? Do you need any other help?
