    @ ClaytonJames

A belated thanks, that was exactly what I needed! Thanks for your help. ??

Thanks…Pingdom is a great tool, thanks for telling me about it! I found one or two images that I must have missed optimizing with it…that should help a bit…

Should we have more graphics/pictures on homepage?

Actually, my first reaction was to have less. The pictures up top obscure the title of the blog…it’s pretty difficult to read the white text overlaid on the pictures. I woud make it a solid color personally.

I do like how the forum is embedded into the site…nicely implemented.

There is a ‘fire-hose’ worth of content on the site. Good to have it, but it may be a little overwhelming. I read somewhere that the more successful blogs are more narrowly focused. If there were a way to simplify the content into 3 or 4 categories that might help as well….maybe just buyers-sellers-industry info

    As always…just IMHO. ??

I like the design in general, but I sort of agree with miss infamous on the background design…it confuses a bit too much. My personal preference would be no background design at all, or barring that something extremely subtle.

Also, the google ads seem to take up a lot of screen real estate in the ‘bubble box’ they’re in. If there were a way to reduce the size of the surrounding box, and maybe move it up above the top teaser box, it might work better.

Just IMHO! Your mileage may vary. ??

you forgot to post a link to your site. . .

nice site blu3frost! I like the subscription buttons a lot. The texture up top is cool as well.

Maybe you should hook up with the guys that writes this blog, https://tireblog.co.cc/ , then you guys might have an entire car! ??

I like the most popular section! I immediately found a post of interest to me (the TP2 Location post).

I would move it up higher on the page…but then I am kind of fanatical about most popular sections. ??

p.s. I saw a few broken image links…I assume just a work in progress. Nice blog overall though.

    Hi Tobias,

Thanks for the reply! I just started using that screencast tool – it’s a great way to show people how to do stuff, or show a problem that is happening on your computer. Saves an awful lot of time when you have a problem that is not easily explained!

I just went back into my admin console and, wouldn’t you know it, I can’t replicate the problem now.

I think a change I made in the interim must have fixed the problem. I was having a different issue where the page Visual editor could not be activated for one page. After some research someone suggested adding this line to my .htaccess file:

    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

That seemed to fix the problem, and I’m guessing made an impact on this one as well as the are at least tangentially related (both being issue with the WP admin display).

As you can see I barely know my Javascript from my PHP…so I’m just guessing on this. I think I am all set…but if you want to take a look through with a temp admin to satisfy your own curiosity drop me an email at larry -at- tak5.com and I’ll grant you access.

Thanks again for your reply. Love the plugin. So far I just have it on a private page for managing some site info, but I’m sure I’ll be using it on a public page as well soon now that I know what it can do. Really excellent work!

    Take care,

I like it. I dig the darker background. One thing you might consider adding…I *always* look for the “most popular” posts when I first visit a blog. If the best posts don’t impress me than I know I can move on, and if there is no “most popular” section I’ll probably move on as well.

ok, I *might* have solved this partially. I also had the Shadowbox JS plugin installed, which had caused issues before. I deactivated it and wp-table seems to behave fine now.

I’m relatively new to WordPress, but it seems these plugins can interest with wordpress itself and each other in some weird ways…especially the javascript ones.

If you have any macro-level tips to avoid javascript gremlins they would be appreciated as well!

hmmm…thanks wetwetwafu, but that I think that’s a little more surgery than I want to do get into with the theme. As soon as I did it no doubt the guy I’m doing the site for would want to try a new theme.

Unless someone chimes in with a shortcut to get there I think I’ll just stick to telling people who view in 800×600 to stop being so cheap and a new computer. ??

They must be pretty accustomed to the web looking pretty awful anyway!

Thanks alchymth and wetwetwafu…now I get *why* it is happening. I guess what is disturbing me (and maybe it is my quirk) is how the 800×600 rez takes the page right up to the left edge of the browser….like this: https://screencast.com/t/OTk2OTZiN

Whereas in higher resolutions there is at least some padding, like this: https://screencast.com/t/ODdmOWFk

Is there any way to enforce a minimum padding of maybe 10 pixels on the left margin? (without changing themes of performing major surgery on this one).

Thanks again for your help / advice!

Where did you guys find the theme? It seems to have disappeared from the Suprb site. . .

ok, I did some more digging and found my own answer,,,bbratings add-on to bbpress seems to do the trick. See:

    https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bb-ratings/

Guess I should have looked harder before posting. ??
