By the ‘main page’ I assume you mean the home page.

This is intended functionality. This may have been a big in the 2.* versions.

I may consider making this an option in future version.

The podcasting plugin handles including the media files. It needs to handle the media file so it know how to handle them. Plus it adds some additional features like allowing the user to open the player in a few window.

This means the audio or video files place directly in your post will not be include the feed sent to iTunes. I understand that this is a bit confusing, but it plugin needs to have more information about the media files included in the feed.

Most likely your are placing your media files directly into the posts. You need to use the podcasting section on the edit page to add your media:

This allows the media control the plugin needs.

Are all the enclosures still showing at the bottom of your posts? And make sure the links are all still valid.
This could be causing the problem.

There hasn’t been any reported conflicts with Custom Post Types, but if your trying to pull your podcast from a custom post type I don’t thank that would work. I don’t think anyone has tried it, but I wouldn’t expect it to work.

This issue only affected some Jetpack users and has been fixed as of 2.4.2.

The symptom is the on page player does not show up.

This issue was resolved with 2.4.2

HTML 5 players have been added in 3.0
