I reverted the comment.php back to the original and yet when I made a new comment and edited it, it’s appearing at the start, despite the time being set to March 22, 2007 5:45pm, while the second (what is the true first comment) was posted at March 22, 2007 3:25pm.

Ah, I see. I did some more research and thought perhaps it was “magic quotes” causing the issue.

Is there an ETA on that re-write?
