In reply to: How to remove "Latest Articles" from homepage?Having the same problem – removed the latest articles with same method, but now there is a huge empty “space” in that area…
I’m not too confident with php, but is there a way to edit the main index php so that instead of the latest articles, it shows another page, for example about us?Help would be great!

In reply to: Styling positioning of language flags in header or menu ?Hi esmi,
I am using the firefox tool already… i checked the css validation again, and found this:
Parse Error }. #flaggenmast ul { display:-moz-inline-box; height:12px; width: 84px; margin: 0; padding: 0; float: right; clear: right; list-style:none; }
So what do I do with that though? I’m sorry I am really new to this and have no idea what to fix? It tells me it’s a parse error, but “what” is wrong??

In reply to: Resizing of broswer messes up my site – scroll bars on the side?OK.
Thanks for all the tips… I will from now on take better care of that, and probably hire someone to fix the bugs in that site…
Thanks!

In reply to: Resizing of broswer messes up my site – scroll bars on the side? Thanks for the input esmi!
So how come there are these errors in websites? I validated another website before and it showed more than 200 errors… what does that mean? Is it a badly written theme? The themes I’m using now are all wordpress recommended free themes.. and one of those showed over 200 errors too (way more then the rainforest theme which seems to be kinda sketchY)…
I have not been able to track them back in the theme’s template files yet. I checked some of the errors in the css sheet, but it seemed there was nothing wrong in the actual code in that line…
I will probably read a little more about the whole thing to figure it out, but thanks for the “parse error” tip – I’ll look more into fixing those!

In reply to: Resizing of broswer messes up my site – scroll bars on the side?thanks esmi..
but how do I identify encoded content?
I had a look in the php and css sheets and everything “seemed” normal to me… of course i don’t know too much though.
I also ran a W3C Css validation and found 63 errors… but I am not sure if that would be due to encoded content?
Not sure if you can see this link but if so check it:
https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?profile=css21&warning=0&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.guidingcorcovado.com%2F#cssSorry for probably asking very stupid questions but I’m just trying to figure this out.. is there some type of tutorial I could read on how to identify encoded content? Or is there something else I could do?
Thank you.

In reply to: Resizing of broswer messes up my site – scroll bars on the side?Ok…
how do I do that:I’d go through that theme with a fine tooth comb looking for encoded content.
?
And why is encoded content bad?Sorry I’m such a newbie and still learning all the time…
I’d greatly appreciate some explanations!
I’m thinking the same thing about ditching the theme, problem is the clients love the theme…
not sure what to tell them and if I will find a similar theme like this one again…J

In reply to: Resizing of broswer messes up my site – scroll bars on the side?Hi,
I just found it on a random search for themes with the client… they chose the theme (it wasn’t my favorite)… so I just downloaded and installed it.. That was a few months ago. Just did a search and now can’t find it anywhere for download.. it is sponsored by these people and the theme itself says “by Solar” which leads to the same page: https://www.powerlutions.com/
I assume that’s just to spread the companies links for SEO purposes…
So yea, pretty bad and there are no support forums for the theme as far as I know…

In reply to: Resizing of broswer messes up my site – scroll bars on the side?oh my site is – https://www.guidingcorcovado.com !
J
The website is https://www.guidingcorcovado.com !
Thanks for that I will try that…
A question about that – if I mess something up in CSS and it doesn’t work, will it affect the site? I have once changed something in the php and the site was useless afterwards and I had to reinstall wordpress.
Is that going to happen if I would make a css mistake? Thanks for your input… argh I am getting frustrated with that! Anyone else has any ideas?!?

In reply to: Remove Twitter, RSS Feed, and categories in sidebar and footerThank you so much!
Changed the widgets and now it looks way better…
Although I am still trying to get rid of the “archives” in the forth footer on every page (home and subpages)…
In the theme option it only allows me to place widgets in the first three columns – the forth doesn’t show up!
What can I do about that?
Thanks so much for your help… ??

In reply to: Remove Twitter, RSS Feed, and categories in sidebar and footerHi… no unfortunately not, there are no widgets in the sidebar under my Dashboard/ Appearance/ Widgets… I even tried to move them into the below “inactive widgets area”, but it doesn’t help… they are still showing up on the site.
Thanks for the thought though!
