In reply to: Links have stopped workingI’ve turned off all the plugins – and it didn’t fix the problem. I also found an admin on the admins list that shouldn’t have been there – so I think it’s clear now that my site has been hacked.
Naturally, I deleted the new admin, but still need to reinstate the site. Is there an easy way to do this? I vaguely remember that the last time I this happened I reinstalled Wp – but these days with automated updating I really don’t know how to do this.
Is there any nice, simple advice out there for someone like me please?
Thanks,
Gav

In reply to: Links have stopped workingIf it has, I guess there will be some way of rebuilding her!

In reply to: Links have stopped workingI’ll try that samboll.
If that doesn’t do it, I guess the next stage is to consider the possibility that it has been hacked.

In reply to: [Plugin: Advertising Manager] Lost all adsScott –
I hate to say it, but I’ve lost most of my ads again – and I can’t see why this should be. The key account number is in place!
I’m not certain whether the ads stopped working when I installed the new plugin update, or whether it was when I created a new sidebar ad.
Whatever it was, the ads in the posts have vanished. Do you have any advice please?

In reply to: [Plugin: Advertising Manager] I believe this plugin is broken.I’ve tried. Believe it or not, I haven’t used Skype in more than a year and had to set it up on a new computer.
I await your approval so I can contact you from England.

In reply to: [Plugin: Advertising Manager] I believe this plugin is broken.Still no ads, and I can’t find a way to reinstate them. I tried reverting to an older ad database following the instructions on the FAQ, but I have no idea what numbers apply to these databases – I haven’t previously needed to be aware of them and don’t know where to find them.
If you can help please, I would be grateful!
Gav
PS – I can’t seem to leave any messages on the Advertising Manager website forum.

In reply to: [Plugin: AdSense Manager] What’s the best advice now please?I found some instructions about reverting to older databases of ads but that hasn’t worked for me either.
And I still cannot comment at the Advertising Manager website forum. I’d guess there were a lot of us out here…

In reply to: [Plugin: AdSense Manager] What’s the best advice now please? One of the things that bothers me about all this is that I haven’t found a settings page for Advertising Manager. More than that even, I haven’t been able to find a button that enables me to write to Mr Switzer at his forum – https://code.openx.org/boards/1/topics/show/1
Obviously I’d like to get this fixed, but still have no idea how to do it.

In reply to: [Plugin: AdSense Manager] What’s the best advice now please? Thanks for this.
Advertising Manager (3.3.15)installed ok and no longer breaks my weblog.
However, I’ve now go no ads at all. I wish life was simpler sometimes!

In reply to: [Plugin: Advertising Manager] I believe this plugin is broken.Scott – it WASN’T working for me. My message was to say that I’d deleted Advertising Manager and restored its predecessor, and that my ads were working again.
Or at least I thought they were. I now find that using the old Adsense manager only one Adsense ad on my extensive weblog is now working.
I’d like to get this fixed of course. Yesterday Advertising Manager broke my weblog and had to be deleted. Do you think I can safely reinstall it now? And, if so, will I have to somehow recreate widgets and manually add ads to all my 832 posts?
See intheboatshed.net to see the damage!

In reply to: [Plugin: Advertising Manager] I believe this plugin is broken.I’ve had a similar experience to Uglyorgan, though having deleted the offending plugin and brought back its predecessor, at least the ads are working again!

In reply to: Search seems to find every pageIridiax – you’ve put your finger on the problem thanks!
It seems that when I copy over the subscription button from one post to the next, I have often been carrying over other bits of code without knowing it.
It looks like I’ve got some housekeeping to do, but at least it’s curable.

In reply to: Strangely mangled search resultsIt was really strange and obvious – footer stuff at the top of the left-hand column, left hand column widgets at the bottom of the right-hand column, no link to previous posts etc etc.
But now I can’t make it do it either! I’ve re-booted my Firefox browser, so I guess it was a browser issue after all.
Thanks anyway.
