PHP should be ok.

Every connection has to have a different sender email address.
I had some grief with this.

temp fix you can add it as an SMTP connection

Looks like this is an incompatibility bug with PHP8.
Didn’t happen with PHP7.4

Confirmed bug with PHP8.0.
Bug is not present with PHP7.4.
