In reply to: [MLB Standings] Quit Early?Sorry for the delayed reply. The data I use for the plugin is from a third party. They are usually very reliable at updating but it’s not in real time and occasionally there may be a delay.

In reply to: [YOURLS Link Creator] YOURLS API Not AccessibleTurns out there was a file corrupted in my YOURLs install that was causing the issue. This is fixed now. Closing this topic.
I switched to YOURLs Link Creator (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/yourls-link-creator/) to generate the links but still no luck.
I’m using URL Shortener (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/url-shortener/). I can’t use the plugin you suggest because I’m not using bit.ly. I’m using a self hosted instance of YOURLs.
And what about this?: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/publicize-doesnt-use-own-url-shortener?replies=20#post-3614493
You said in that post:
if you use a custom URL shortener like Bit.ly or Yourls, Publicize will use your custom shortlink instead of the wp.me shortlink.
That’s exactly what I’m asking about but it’s not working.
I thought Jetpack used the Gravatar of the person posting when no image is in the post which is what I was expecting on this post. Am I misinformed?
Is there a plugin I can use to post using the custom URL? Publicize is useless to me if I can’t post with my custom URLs.
Thanks.
Two things to note with this post:
1 – The image sent to Facebook is the envelope image above the post.
2 – The custom short URL (used above) was not sent to Facebook. (It used https://nothing.golddave.com/2013/10/22/2398/?fb_source=pubv1.)@esmi This is my own topic. Created the original post in this topic.
I have tested this a few times today and figured out what was causing the problem but another problem came up as a result. In playing around with settings I turned off Google+ and everything started to work normally except that the image being used, which I assumed would be the Gravatar for the user posting if there is no featured image, is actually another image on the page. Any thoughts?

In reply to: jQuery on Plugin Settings Page?Nevermind. I figured it out. I needed to replace the $ in the javascript with “jQuery” (without the quotes).
This may be site specific. I need more info. Can you point me to the site you’re using this on?

After playing with this for a while I decided to roll my own plugin as a replacement. Instead of depending on MLB’s standings, as Starcross did, I’m using an open source XML by Erik Berg (https://erikberg.com/mlb/standings.xml). The XML is updated daily (usually early in the morning Eastern time) to reflect the previous night’s games.
I’m using it one of my blogs right now and it looks like it’s working fine. I even integrated the CSS from Starcross so it looks nice.
I plan on tweaking it a little bit and then releasing it on www.ads-software.com but would love if you’d try it out on your own blog before then. It would be great to get some feedback and ideas for future version.
Thanks,
DaveIt appears that the standings javascript this plugin uses has been discontinued by MLB. If this is the case a whole new approach is needed. Still researching. If anyone has a solution please let me know.
I’m having the same issue. Trying to figure it out but with no sucess so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I figured it out! A friend suggested to me that perhaps a plugin was using the get_permalink hook and adding the extra parameters. After a little investigation I found that the Google Analytics plugin was doing this. Unchecking the “Tag links in RSS feed with campaign variables” feature fixed it. Are you using the Google Analytics plugin? Or maybe another tracking plugin?
