Date picker isn't saving correct year

    I have selected a date format of mm-dd-yyy in the settings panel. I then add a new event and use the date picker and then publish the post- when I look back at the event date it is not correct but assigned to a past year like 2002

    The date pick also shows a different date format of day month year – it would be great if this could match the date format chosen in the settings panel.
