    As I can see, your wp-admin page is opening fine, so you can try to change your theme.

    You might also need to turn the php.ini value error_reporting for your site to On, so you can see if there is actually some php error that is causing the issue.

    Hi James – if the site is super important the easiest solution right now is to restore from a backup. After that try upgrading a copy of the site and if the same issue occurs again just enable WP_DEBUG to find out more info about why the site crashed.     It was as simple as changing the theme! Thanks Ivan!

    Thanks both of you! Separately there may have been a problem with the back up (which I am addressing separately) so I’m glad I didn’t have to try to restore, Daniel.
