actually I’m using 1.8.2.2 but I’m not getting a prompt to update in WordPress.

For anyone that comes across this. Looks like it’s an issue with 4.2.2. I came across this post https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/cannot-add-a-site-to-multisite-installation-with-fresh-install-of-wp-422
and installed 4.1.5. After I created the multisite network, I then upgraded. NO issues so far.

I’ve always been a little hesitant to go the network route because it seems like multisite doesn’t get the same WordPress love but this client wants a network of 50+ sites (eventually) and it just makes more sense if we can manage it. we’ll see.

Ok. I think I got it.

I’ve made no changes to the theme files. It seems like it should flow up. I wanted to see if anyone was having the same issue or had any suggestions before I made modifications to the code.

I tried the curl install but it didn’t resolve the issue. thanks for the input though.

For anyone running into this issue, my resolution was deleting the htaccess file that sucuri security plugin had put in the wp-content folder to prevent access to any .php file. these posts were helpful in putting me on the right track.

Check the other paths in the config file. I don’t host with GoDaddy so I’m not sure what the options are there. The dbhost should probably be localhost.

As a last resort, assuming you don’t have your own backup, you could ask them to refresh the site from a week ago.

the wp-config file will tell you what DB you’re using. You can use your mysql tool to look at the data and see what dbase are available. then you should be able to match the right one.

Just upgraded to version .15. Now if I have hide footer selected, it actually hides the footer on the front side, not just the admin.

Could be a lot of things. If you’re running a lot of plugins (and depending on which ones) that could be your issue. Having said that, there are some plugins that might help. This site has a good list.
