In reply to: Installed 2.8 but 2.9.1 won’tYep, all fine with PHP 5, thanks for your help.
Perhaps WordPress should tell everyone it DOES need 5 to save people a lot of aggravation ??

In reply to: Installed 2.8 but 2.9.1 won’tAssuming nothing has changed at my server’s end (it hasn’t) then there must be something that differs between 2.8 and 2.9. The tables were set up when I installed 2.8, but now they won’t.

In reply to: Installed 2.8 but 2.9.1 won’tRight. My server says it’s PHP 4 point something. Yes I know it should be 5 but then WordPress says it’ll work without that being so.
I’ve now deleted everything, including the database and have started from scratch. I’ve re-uploaded (for the 3rd bloody time) version 2.9.1. I go to the ‘install’ step and exactly the same thing happens: ‘internal server error’. I must be doing something, but I did EXACTLY what I did with 2.8.
???

In reply to: Installed 2.8 but 2.9.1 won’tWell, thanks but…
I’ve deleted WordPress completely and re-downloaded and then uploaded WordPress to my server, as if starting from scratch I presume. Nothing. All I get is ‘internal server error’ again. What else can I do? I’ve put in all the right passwords and usernames (exactly as before) but this time I can’t get past the first ‘install’ step. Should I delete the whole database? I didn’t want to get rid of all of it as I don’t know what I’m doing! I’ve only deleted the ‘user’ part.
Help!!!
