Thanks, jorge-vitrubio. I did as you recommended and commented out lines 85-90 in polylang’s plugin-combat.php. Blog works, but not category links. Checked WP SEO > premalink and unhooked the “Strip the category base (usually /category/) from the category URL”. Now it works.
Uncommented line 85-90: category links still work.
May this yet be another problem?

Update. Reinstalled version 1.7.1 worked for 1 click (probably not refreshed the page before), now cat links dont work anymore.

I have to add that I installed SEO 171 for the first time only a few days ago and probably never checked the cat links. Am still on WAMP.

FYI, I am following your other instructions on your website as we speak. Great help tool. Tons of stuff to do.

You are a darling! Now it works. My mistake was that I had the Field modifiers: Default set to 1 and Default as placeholder with a hook. Took both off (as per your web instructions) and now it is OK.

But now I have Afghanistan in the field as placeholder. I did the testing with Default placeholder hooked and unhooked. Same result. I need to add I am still on localhost, but that shouldn’t really make a difference. ??
What am I missing?

Image file names also count as premalinks, not just pages and posts. I had the same problem; had a look at the database, column post-name in table posts and I noticed I had an image that occupied the name I intended to give to a page. I deleted the offending image, uploaded a renamed version of it, changed the page premalink to the one of the deleted image and it worked!!!

If anyone has the same problem, place a cat desc in one of your cat links, activate “Show Category Description” and position it to LEFT!!!!!!!!!! And save.

This is show both, the cat and the cat description. Then go back and deactivate the “Show Category Description”. And you are done.

It is me again. By clicking SHOW CAT DESC I got my CAT back on the above mentioned sponsors page (I think that was the trigger), but the same action, and many other for that matter, do not work on this page:

The problem lies with Events Manager. I installed another wysiwyg plugin: Smart Blocks and I have the same problem.

thank you very much for your reply. I found that tag in one of the 3 .php pages in the wysiwyg widgets plugin. I will head over and address the problem in its support forum.

Just one more hint I would like to add in case the error might be caused by something else: the problem started only AFTER i had updated the events manager plugin (the other i had updated a few days earlier with no error consequences).

alchymyth – I learned that the Featured Image for pages has a bug, which may mean the option was meant to work also in 2012. Let’s hope the bug can be fixed soon and we can all profit from this fantastic feature also in the great 2012 theme.
