Thanks for getting back to me.
I had been using All in One WP security a long time ago, which seems to have added a few things to .htaccess, including the blocking of xmlrpc.php. I deleted these lines. But still no luck Could anything else in here be blocking it?
I spoke to my host again, who stated that they definitely do not block it.
