@johnzapf Please check if OpenSSL is enabled on your server. Also, if you are running on Windows server, our plugin won’t support Windows platform.
@johnzapf unfortunately our plugin won’t support windows server.
@mavenickster First of all, “Should we talk bad about this plugin?” – Threatening is not the right way to request support. Instead of opening your own support thread, You are trying to use a support thread opened by someone else which is already resolved.
Various hosts block acme-challenge folder with purpose i.e., verification bots cannot see the code that you are able to see in browser. So the best solution would be to verify via DNS method. If you have correctly added TXT record, test _acme-challenge.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with correct domain) in dnschecker[dot]org and make sure the added TXT code is showing correctly.
You might be doing something wrong in adding TXT records or your DNS records are not propagated worldwide. DNS updates can take upto 24-48hrs for propagation.
@wadimw We have implemented an override option to generate SSL for both www & non-www domain, but you will need to wait for next release in 1-2 days.

@jennalmayhew Please update PHP version of your server. If you have shared hosting, Please contact your hosting support to update PHP for you. This will resolve your issue.
@jennalmayhew Please try deleting the plugin completely and re-install the latest version. Not sure if this is due to conflict with any other plugins you have.
Thank You!. We had not pushed any update to this plugin due to busy schedule. New version released today fixes this issue.
@brennusbr That looks absolutely perfect!. You have not forced HTTPS with our plugin and you have even deleted our plugin now (WP Encryption plugin don’t make changes to ANY file except .htaccess). But your issue still exists, which means Your issue relates to other redirection or such plugins and not WP Encryption.
Please check your wp-config.php file if any WP_ENCRYPTION related lines exists. Also, you might have to delete other suspicious plugins from wp-content/plugins/ folder that might be causing the issue.
If nothing solves your issue, your hosting support should be able to figure out the issue.
@jennalmayhew Can you please try de-activating all SSL related plugins and activate WP Encryption plugin again.
@brennusbr
using file manager on your hosting panel, delete wp-letsencrypt-ssl folder from wp-content/plugins/Choose to show hidden files in file manager settings, locate .htaccess file in your WordPress directory and let us know your .htaccess complete code
