In reply to: [Plugin: Events Calendar] Do not update! 12-12-09I just downloaded and installed the 6.6 patched version. It doesn’t show up on my plugins page, but it does show on the left sidebar in the admin view. Is this how it’s supposed to work?
Also, where is the calendar supposed to show up? I added an event and can see it in the admin area, but nothing shows up on my website. I’m not even sure what its supposed to look like, or if I can customize it at all. The documentation is crappy!

In reply to: how do I reinstall my exported posts??Believe me, if I could fix what was wrong with the original db I would have done it a long time ago. But I have no idea what’s wrong, and I’ve been posting about this here for a couple of months now and no one else seems to have a clue either.
One person suggested what I’m trying to do now, which is just import the posts, which is why I’m trying it.
Unfortunately, WP doesn’t come with any support. And the volunteers who post here can’t be relied on for help. So I’m stuck. If you know of another way, then please feel free to suggest it. But I’m doing the best I can with what resources I have.
Exactly what do you mean by “drop your wp_post table and import that sql file” ??
Thanks.

In reply to: how do I reinstall my exported posts??Yes the files were exported from phpmyAdmin as sql files, and I was trying ti import them using the wp import function… I didn’t realize it wants a wxr file so it didn’t work.
So then I went back to phpmyAdmin and tried to re-import those files (they split into 2-3 files for some reason) and got this error message:
ErrorSQL query: — — Dumping data for table

So now I’m back to square one and have to have them wipe my domain clean of all the files so I can start over.
But my webhost doesn’t support wordpress and can’t/won’t help with just importing a portion of the db. And I can’t seem to get those files into the db by myself. Can someone just walk me thru the steps of how to ONLY import the posts, and not the rest of the db?? Thanks!

In reply to: Can’t save changes in Settings, theme screwed upWell, I thought things were going to work, but I’m right back where I started with all of the same problems. After everything was deleted and fresh WP installed, I checked to make sure I had admin control back and everything worked fine. then I imported my backup database, and wham, all the problems came back.
I can’t make any changes to settings or pages, or have any kind of admin control at all. I get WP Failure messages when I make a change (like to the timezones) and try to save it. I can’t change themes. I can’t fix the theme display I want to use because its all screwed up. I can’t deactivate plugins without deleting them thru ftp.
All I want to do is start over and only save my posts. Can someone please tell me how I extract those from my db backup, because obviously there’s a bug in the db somewhere that’s being reimported. Thanks!

In reply to: How to add published posts back in after reinstallI don’t know what it means about changing the “old” url to the “new” one. The url of my site is the same.
Here’s my problem. in another post I documented my sudden loss of admin capability. I get a WP Failure Notice every time I try to change anything like settings, themese, manage plugins etc. It won’t let me do anything.
So I gave up, made a backup, and had my webhost tech people wipe everything out. I reinstalled WP, and tested it, and I had admin control back. Then I put in the theme I want to use, tested, and everything worked. Finally, I wanted to add in my posts & links from my old database. I couldn’t find a way to just pull those out of the db, so I did an import of my old sql using phpmyadmin. And bang, I have all the old problems back.
So I don’t have admin control any longer, and I want to wipe out everything again, but this time ONLY re-import the posts & links and nothing else. Can anyone help me do this? I really need to get my site back up!! I’m not a techie so I really don’t understand all of this, but hope someone can help.
Thanks!

In reply to: Can’t save changes in Settings, theme screwed upThanks for the response! I’m not sure I understand all of it, especially the nonce stuff and your #2 point, but here’s what I’d like to try…
I’d like to export my posts and save those. Then wipe out everything that’s on the server and start from scratch by installing 2.6.3. I have very little technical expertise and really don’t know how to “edit the sample wp-config.php” file.
How do I export my posts??
The problems actually began before I upgraded to 2.6.2. I just upgraded on iridiax’s recommendation to see if it would solve the problems. It didn’t. I had to delete all of the plugins because I couldn’t disable them. that didn’t help either.
I haven’t decided on what theme I want to use yet, I’ve been experimenting with different ones that I like. Maybe that’s what caused the problem. I don’t know. But at this point I just want to start clean, reload my posts and move on. I’m not good at fiddling this stuff and don’t have the expertise anyway…
So if anyone reads this and thinks it’s a big mistake please let me know! Cuz I’ve spent way too much time on this already and just want to move on. Thanks everyone!

In reply to: Can’t save changes in Settings, theme screwed upStill nothing. I deleted every single plugin, I’m using the default theme, and I still can’t do any admin functions. I just get the WP Failure Notice Your attempt to edit your settings has failed.

In reply to: Can’t save changes in Settings, theme screwed upOK, I got it to accept the default WP theme. However, I still have no admin control to deactivate plugins, change settings, or edit files. Waaaaah!

In reply to: Can’t save changes in Settings, theme screwed upI also tried to change the theme, in case this was the problem since it worked fine until I installed it. But it won’t let me. The message says my theme change failed.
HELP!! :/
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Can’t save changes in Settings, theme screwed upWell, I updated WP, and updated any plugins that had them. My web host tech guy thought it was a plugin conflict, so he suggested I deactivate all the plugins, see if it worked, and then start adding them back in.
Problem is, WP won’t let me deactivate the plugins. I get a message that says “Are you sure you want to do this?” and “Please try again.” Same deal when I tried to change my time zone, it would not save my change. In other words, I have no admin control over this site.
Any ideas?
