In reply to: Error establishing a database connection!vkaryl, thanks for the info, but if the problem is intermittent (as it has been), they might still see the page and conclude that all is okay. I’m wondering if I need to ask them to do something specific, like restart MySQL services on the box, or something like that.

In reply to: Error establishing a database connection!I’m having this problem also — again. My blog will run fine for a long time, I won’t change a thing, and then suddenly I’ll get the “error establishing a database connection” message from time to time. (Not all the time.)
I’m pretty convinced it’s a problem with the host, but when I ask them to check on it they just look at my blog and (of course) it works for them, so they say everything is fine.
So what, specifically, should I ask the hosting company to do when this happens? Restart the box? Restart MySQL? Specific details would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

In reply to: Exceeded ‘max_questions’ thresholdMy webhosting company seems to have resolved the problem on crowhill.net, but I’m not sure what they did. Sorry. Wish I could be more helpful.
Can I bypass this PHP upgrade problem by upgrading my installation of WordPress? I’m on 1.2 right now. If I upgrade to 1.5, will the problem go away?
Arlo — your hack didn’t work for me. I still get “It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.”

In reply to: Exceeded ‘max_questions’ thresholdThanks. I did the optimization stuff myself, and that hasn’t resolved the problem. I’ve sent a note to the host to see if they know what’s up.

In reply to: Exceeded ‘max_questions’ thresholdFound it! When I tried to reduce the number of posts I got this error.
Database error: [User ‘username’ has exceeded the ‘max_questions’ resource (current value: 50000)]
SELECT wp_options.option_id, option_name, option_type, option_value, option_admin_level FROM wp_options WHERE option_name IN (‘posts_per_page’,’what_to_show’,’posts_per_rss’,’rss_use_excerpt’,’blog_charset’,’gzipcompression’ )Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Exceeded ‘max_questions’ thresholdI’m running Search Hilite 1.2 and WordPress Hashcash 1.6.
Where do I reduce the number of posts to show? (I’m running v. 1.2)

In reply to: Blog to ezine feature?Thank you, that is very helpful. If I understand you properly, this allows me to generate a web page that displays all the posts in a given month (or other time period). What I’m really looking for is a function that allows me to email that information to all registered users.
Maybe this is a request for a new feature in a later version.
