In reply to: [XO Featured Image Tools] Featured Image “failed”no, nothing complicated at all. I make a new post, click update and most set the featured image but not all. I think it must be a clash with the theme somehow

In reply to: [XO Featured Image Tools] Featured Image “failed”yes it is although I have also tried with images via ftp, same result. It says it’s done but displaying posts for not set images shows this is not so. Individual posts have the same issue on update. A manual set is ok. Also it is about 65 images only out of hundreds, the rest did a great job. ??

In reply to: [XO Featured Image Tools] Featured Image “failed”I’ve tried it all ways. I thought maybe it was the image size but they are all over 200 in size

In reply to: Prev Next Navigation Problemsok I now have a pretty looking website (still an issue with Google Ads displaying, see below in case there is a connection.)
The prev/next navigation doesn’t show yet I found this in the code.</header><!-- #masthead .site-header --> <div id="main-wrapper"> <div id="header-featured-image"><a title="Portraits" href="https://www.portraitcorner.co.uk/" target="_self" rel="noopener noreferrer"><img alt="Portraits" src="https://www.portraitcorner.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/portraitbanner-1.jpg" /></a> </div><!-- #header-featured-image --> <div id="main"> <div id="content-sidebar" class="container"> <div id="primary" class="content-area"> <div id="content" class="site-content" role="main"> <nav role="navigation" id="nav-above" class="site-navigation post-navigation"> <h3 class="assistive-text">Post navigation</h3> <div class="nav-previous"><a href="https://www.portraitcorner.co.uk/turkish-van-cat.htm" rel="prev"><span class="meta-nav">←</span> Turkish Van Cat</a></div> <div class="nav-next"><a href="https://www.portraitcorner.co.uk/portraits-from-photographs.htm" rel="next">Family Portraits from Photographs <span class="meta-nav">→</span></a></div> </nav><!-- #nav-above -->
May or may not be part of same issue if faulty includes or something similar:
1. I have 18 sites with Advanced Ads for Google Auto Ads. All are working perfectly except for this site. It displays ads on mobile but not on desktop.
2. It’s clear that when I find a theme that doesn’t display prev/next links, they are still there, just not displayed.
3. The theme I am currently using displayed an old menu in the header until I re-saved the menu then it displayed proper navigation. Again I don’t know where this old navigation comes from.Any and all ideas where to look would be very welcome.

In reply to: Prev Next Navigation Problemsoops that took out all navigation and now I cant see where to remove it

In reply to: Prev Next Navigation ProblemsThank you so much Michael. That did the trick.
I would still like to work out what is triggering the prev/next navigation. It seems there is old data somewhere allocating the links. I just can’t see where. I would like to get rid of it if I can find it.

In reply to: Prev Next Navigation ProblemsSorry I should have added it is not theme related as most themes do it. I have tried several today. Its almost behaving like a plug in to put random category links except the links are static and not well related. I just cant find it to get rid of it.

In reply to: Prev Next Navigation ProblemsThey are appearing and I don’t want them to but I cant find out where they are coming from. It does it with most themes.

In reply to: Prev Next Navigation ProblemsYes I started with Transference then its parent. Tried about 8 more of which only 2 didnt do it. The links are pretty random which makes me think an old plugin but they are all gone.

In reply to: Home Page ProblemQuick update:
The issue appear to be twofold:
1. A question of whether my home page can be found. I suspect this may be due to plugins and I am currently re-installing the site.
2. On further inspection, I notice that I get the gibberish on all unfound pages on all WordPress sites in IE, but it is handled correctly in Firefox and Chrome.
I will post again if I find a solution.

In reply to: Home Page ProblemI know – it sounds crazy – I have already reinstalled – I am guessing I have a setting somewhere that is causing the problem and that different browsers are handling it in different ways.
What really surprised me is that IE behaves differently when I enter the url into the address bar compared to when I get there by clicking a link.
Back to the drawing board but many thanks for your help.

In reply to: Home Page ProblemI did as you asked, then repeated the entering only dencats.org – the results as the same, no matter what I enter.
The link above shows screen shot of:
1)Explorer
2)Chrome
3)FirefoxWhat is also strange is that if I click a link rather than enter it into the address bar (Explorer is my default browser) the IE behaves as Chrome does, not as in pic 1. Weird huh?

In reply to: Home Page ProblemCorrect me if I’m wrong, but clearly I have something wrong on my computer but different browsers are handling the problem in different ways?
I will follow your instructions from the last post in a moment but to clarify – I do NOT enter either ‘index’ or ‘index.php’. The browser is defaulting to that.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Home Page ProblemThe same.
But here’s is what is really crazy. I clicked the links from your reply and it shows me the 404 page, defaulting to
https://dencats.org/index in the address barIf I enter either into the address bar directly I get what is shown in the screenshot.
In Chrome it also shows me a 404 page defaulting to
https://dencats.org/index
in the address barIn Firefox, it work as as expected, going to the correct home page, and showing dencats.org in the address.
I am totally confused.
