In reply to: [WordPress Simple Shopping Cart] Help – sales not recordedI appreciate you taking the time to reply – unfortunately it doesn’t help because the damage is done and I’m trying to find out if there’s a way to get the data but I guess that’s not possible.
If it hadn’t worked when I first set it up I could have done this test. But, the failure (which was complete) happened after testing and now the sales period is over.

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Charging taxes?Okay – figured out I could add the GST and A processing fee at the same time. So that’s sorted out.
FEATURE REQUEST- having a separate Taxes field (we have to be able to add the tax identifier number onto charges in Canada) and Processing fee as separate items that show up with the total before hitting the Pay button.
Thank you

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Error going to paypalThanks for looking into that.
Unfortunately, I’m doing this for an association and I do not have access to the PayPal account. Until I can sit down with the person who does control the account, I can’t do those steps to fix things from that end. But I should note the account has been in existence for quite a long time now.
I’ve also tested it with my own PayPal account which I’ve been using for years and it failed with that as well.
But I should note that another event plugin – that isn’t nearly as good from a feature perspective – works fine with the official Paypal account for the Association.
So it would seem that whatever Quick Event Manager is sending doesn’t work directly with PayPal at this time. At least without changing settings in PayPal.

In reply to: Adding URL to image needs workThank you for your reply. Yes, that looks like how it should work. It is not how it works on two separate installations on two different hosts on sites I’m working on.
It should be noted that the linking works fine on another site I have.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Breaking sitesThe last few sites I have gotten around to updating the plugin – as soon as I update there is a major error now and the only way to get the site working again at all is to remove the plugin via FTP.
It may be something to do with the hosting server I’m on (ipage.com) but every site I use it on except 1 has now broken, irregardless whether its the only plugin active or not, or what theme I’m using. For a while, sites wouldn’t break using Jetpack until I tried to deactivate it – then everything dies. Again, only fix was to go in by FTP and delete it. Unfortunately I don’t have time to problem solve this stuff – just easier to delete and get on with work.
Andrew – thanks for the follow up – I think for the moment I’ve done enough damage to it ;-D
I’ll wait to see what the team implements with the next version.
BTW – I’ve put in some custom css to make the not front page banners a little bigger.
Not my first choice as it pushes the text below the bottom edge of the page. On review, my first choice would be the smaller banner and a separately chosen image.
If you’re making this a theme feature – it would be nice in that case to make the colour of the text a user choice – which would be good as well if someone uploads a light coloured image as well.
Otherwise dark grey to match the ‘dark’ choice in the theme – which could also be affected by the user choice of background colour.
That at least would be my suggestion.

Although the best solution would probably be another image altogether or – for the time being – being able to turn off the header image on inside pages.
It might make sense to be be able to make the image slightly larger, but I don’t really like having larger headers on inside pages. Mostly being able to re-position the image inside the header should be enough to get a reasonable crop.
Sorry I haven’t been able to communicate clearly enough.
What I’d like is to re-position the image inside the header on ‘other pages’ so that the way the image is cropped is more appropriate.
I don’t necessarily need to change the size of the header image, just how the image is positioned in relation to it. Right now it is centered vertically – where I may need it 50 or 60 pixels further down than that, or perhaps up.
Perhaps if you go to the site you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.
