In reply to: controversial blog posting is suddenly unable to loadI just tried checking the page on another computer in my house and it loads just fine. But on my computer, I still get a message that says,
“Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “https://www.thecanadiangeek.ca/archives/in-defense-of-the-pedophile”. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.”I don’t understand what could be causing this, we don’t have firewalls or anything like that on our computers.

In reply to: THE BEST THING ABOUT WORDPRESS PROGRAMWhat is the name of the “better” program you found?
Btw, WordPress is always a breeze for me to install. Maybe the issue might be with your webhost and the configuration of their servers.

In reply to: Just KudosI don’t understand all the hating’ over the WYSIWYG editor. Sure, it could be better (there’s room for improvement on anything), but I’d rather bitch about the nearly nonsensical uploading feature. But I wont bitch, I’ll just use Fetch FTP to upload my pics and hope that the uploading feature is improved or changed back to what it was before.
And while many of the improvements are cosmetic, I like them.

In reply to: 100webspace.net and permalinksI just checked with them and it seems they don’t support mod_rewrite… my god, I never knew a web host would NOT support this.

In reply to: 100webspace.net and permalinksI did, repeatedly, I even changed the parameters just to see what would happen…
it would auto update my .htaccess file and reflect the changes on the blog URLs but the links keep returning to the main page.

In reply to: [ANN] WP-ContactForm for WP V1.5edit: I fixed my problem. I use Everyone.net on my primary domain name and the emails were being stored on my server instead of being sent to my account with Everyone.net

In reply to: Way Too Clean 1.0 – A WP 1.5 themeAwesome theme, I really like it a lot. I’m seriously thining about implementing it for my site.
The only criticism I can think of is that it feels a little too functional, not very personal for a blog. But, that’s just a made criticism I threw out just for the sake of being judgemental.

In reply to: my wordpress doesn’t like apostrophesI changed the charset but it didn’t work. So I reinstalled WP and started from scratch copying a pasting my entries into the new install. And the same problem happened again. I search the board again and found out others have had a similar problem, sometimes associated with using MICROSOFT WORD. Appearantly there is invisible formatting that screws up WP which doresn’t really make much sense, since the post preview looks fine and earlier versions of WP never gave me any problem with copying and pasting text from MS WORD.
I even pasted text into notepad and saved it with the UTF-8 charset and it still didn’t make a difference.
I’ve spent all night trying to fix this stupid problem and nothing seems to be working. And I don’t want to retype/revise lenghty articles when there should be a less crude solution available.
I’m really going nuts here.
I thought this problem would be simple enough to fix and yet it’s so persistent; for a while it seemed like my browser was just arbitrarily adding a different kinds of gibberish to my postings only to revert back to the original junk characters it had been displaying before.Forum: Your WordPress
