I keep hearing about ‘Live Journal Plugin’ Pack and now LivePress, but what exactly does this do? (I clicked on your link and it didn’t really explain anything)

It’s up to the admin of the particular blog your signed up for… you might want to send an email to the admin so they know you signed up and would like to have posting privilleges.
But a lot of people leave registration enabled even though they have no intensions of accepting new users.
Would you mind sharing the URL for the site being discussed.

I know nothing about PHP so please bare with me.
I’m attempting to duplicate the layout I made for MT, but I’m getting a lot of white space between tags.
    eg:
    <?php the_title(); ?><br><?php the_excerpt(); ?>
    GIVES ME:
    title
    insert excerpt here
    INSTEAD OF:
    title
    insert excerpt here
    ——————–
This is a really big problem for me, because my design fall apart with big gaps all over the place. Is there some way I can deal with this?

I just took another look at the Movabletype page and I don’t know if I can’t justify spending $100US (which is a kajillion dollars CAN), actually I know I can’t, so maybe I will take the time to hack the hell out of WP afterall.
It’s well past 1am right now and I’m sleep deprived, so just ignore everything I originally wrote and forgive me for saying all those awful things I said, because come morning I’m going to need help figuring out what to do.

I still can’t get it to work and I added the most recent version of the code to my-hacks.php

    re: midtoad’s reply
I believe I used the appropriate spaces… I copied the original parameters posted within this thread.
I’m not really familiar with SQL databases, but I inputed the parameters into a box labeled ‘Run SQL query/queries on database’ and it gave me the error message shown in my previous posting.
I’m not really sure how to proceed.

I aplogize if I offened you somehow, 2fargon. I thought only ALL CAPS were used for shouting.
And yes it was a badly worded question that rambled quite a bit, but I was in a rambling kind of mood and I just want to stir up a conversation. I wasn’t really looking for a difinitive answer.
I was hoping people would show some examples of group blogs using WordPress and maybe share some stories about the pros and cons of having a team of users with posting priveleges.
Again, I apologize if I appeared annoyed with your response, that wasn’t my intent.

Judging by the fact that tables (eeew!) were used to control the layout, I’d say no…. Or, if it is, then it has been severly hacked.

Actually it’s just the main page that uses tables. If you look at the blog it has a ‘powered by WordPress link’ and the layout is completely CCS based.
Nonetheless, I’m using tables for my site and I don’t understand why anyone would want to deisgn their layout using only CSS. It’s so clumsy and unintuitive. I only use CSS to supplement my existing table design.

    re: 2fargon’s custom import script
the script only seems to works if the account name is ‘admin’… which was no big deal, I didn’t realize it right away when trying to import my archive under a different a name.
secondly, after using the script everything looked fine until I noticed that none of my comments had been imported.
    Any thoughts on this?

Thanks. Exporting from FireFox seems to have solved the problem. Bu is there anyway to import the entries under my admin account instead of auto generating a new user?

ignore that previous example and just look a my site to see what I mean…
