Hi Krishna. Thank you for your observations and suggestions. Specifically, I went into the WordPress Settings > General, and changed my site URL from “localhost:8888” to “https://www.louisianabeat.com.” When I did this, I could no longer access my website locally. This is when I went into the mysql database and tried to revert this change by going into the my-options table, finding the site url field and the home field, and changing these back to “localhost:8888.” I now believe that I was supposed have set these field to “localhost” and not “localhost:8888”

Please understand that I cannot get back into my mysql database to undo what I have done there, nor can get back into my website to undo what I have done there either.

The good news is that I DO have backups of my entire hard drive. So now, I am asking for the location where WordPress stores website data on my hard drive. If I know this then I can restore that folder to a previous date before this incident happened. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks Webeminence. The reason I am so freaked out is because I can no longer access my local website or my local database.

As per the instructions in this WordPress article, I went into the WordPress General Settings and changed my site url to my domain name, https://www.louisianabeat.com.

When I made this change, I could no longer access my website locally. So, then I found this WordPress article. So I attempted to go into my local database and rename my site url, and now when I try to launch phpMyAdmin, my database does not launch.

I have really screwed up “BIG TIME!” I do have Apple Time Machine backups of my hard drive, so I can restore my website, but I do not know which folders to restore to get a previous version of my database.

Any assistance would be appreciated more than you can ever imagine. Thanks again.

Yes. I did check my details with my host, and it does match.

is there any way to repair a mysql database or recover all of the data that I have entered? I have no idea what I should do at this point.

    Thanks for the reply.

I am using MAMP on a Mac to run WordPress locally, and now when I click on the phpMyAdmin tab the database does not launch. I did these steps to change the site url back to localhost:8888, so that I could access my website locally again.

    Hi David,

Thanks for replying. I haven’t taken my site live, yet, so I can’t provide a link.

I will keep tinkering with it, and I will post a link as soon as I can.

    Ben
