    Hmmm… Well, THANK YOU.

I am using IE 9(if not even an earlier version), as was the friend who had alerted me of the issue. I haven’t updated IE from the version that came with my 2005 laptop, since I use FF.

Thank you – I have done that and had SOME improvement.

Before, there was no navigation bar below the banner. After removing that code, the background for the nav bar HAS become visible. However, the tabs (Home, Shop, Blog, Contact) are still not visible.

So, there must still be a problem somewhere.

I appreciate the patience and assistance.

“The code above DOCTYPE is verification by Pinterest. You probably put this in yourself or maybe thru a plugin. “

Thank you for this -and I HAVE tried to do that. But I am not sure where that would be – I don’t recognize anything that says Pinterest.

I have gone into the Editor, and looked at the Header, which is where I would have probably put that( I have tried to find out via the Pinterest site where they had asked it to be placed, and cannot locate)
Would it be the following code on the header?
    <meta name=”p:domain_verify” content=”0916f8ad5ea7a497af60220fcd76fe93″ />

I am really not wanting to just go cutting stuff, even if I do save it, then test to see if it is fixed, and then put back if no change. Worried I WILL screw things up.

Yes, I have deactivated all plugins.

I have to wonder if when I recently tried to connect my site to a shopping venue called TheFind.com, which asked me to place a line of code if that is the problem. I have looked for that stupid line of code to remove it, but cannot find it.

I am still unable to figure out what is wrong. I have looked for “line above DOCTYPE” and haven’t the foggiest idea.

As for hiring a developer – that is not going to happen. I have 425 cash to my name right now and am traveling cross country, stuck in Durango, CO. No money for gas, much less a professional to fix whatever screw up I inadvertently made which has rendered my site hideous to IE/

WPyogi- I appreciate your help, but am not sure where to look to find that.

I am looking at the various template pages in the Editor, and….wandering lost.

    (@happiegrrrl)

WPyogi – Thanks for that…. It says there are 18 errors and 31 warnings… and I have no clue what I am supposed to do about this(besides bang my head on a wall or cry. Or both.). The tech speak is beyond my comprehension.

    Thanks for the response.

One thing, the person who reported that IE horror was on IE 9. I assume my version is 9 or less, since I don’t use it.

So – you are saying my site looks like trash in Chrome as well?

    Thread Starter happiegrrrl

    (@happiegrrrl)

    …never mind…

I have no idea how it became fixed. It is fixed. Must be magic.

    OH MY GOD…

The support person from my hosting service should be fired. Or at least get a spanking.

After having spent easily an hour with her yesterday, as detailed above, I went ot create the new page for my blog. In following the instructions, I saw a notation that showed the Settings>Reading page, with an illustration detailing to click the proper page under the “Posts” section….

I realized that I had not checked that box in the several times I had been on the Settings>Reading Page.

Went there, and yup – it was simply not set to read from the “news” page for posts…

    Problem RESOLVED!

I have to wonder if it wasn’t “Bring Your Kid to Work” day and someone had stepped away from their dest and told their kid “Now, don’t be answering the phone while I am in the john….”

    GRRRRR!

    (@happiegrrrl)

Hmm…. I did all but the reset, since I didn’t know how. So, called my host and they troubleshooted with me. esentially insisting I deactivate/reactivate Plug-Ins, despite my telling them I already did.

    We did that – twice….

    Problem not fixed.

So, they have sent me an instruction sheet to create a new Page for the blog. I assume I will be able to transfer the posts to that page once it is up. But – out of time to do the work today.

    Thanks for help. Frustated….

Thank you for the suggestions. I have to admit that I just didn’t know how to do some of the tasks, as I am not all that savvy, and ended up calling my host(Bluehost) and they jumped right inside and deactivated the screwed up plugin(which was Twitterfeed).

    Appreciate your help.

Thanks esmi – Did it but the white page came up.

I am getting nowhere, in reading the various suggestions to others.

This morning I tried using the https://www.bysob.com/wp-admin/php to get in(was suggested to someone else), and got to my actual site, but it included on the page was the “404 Error: Not found

The page you trying to reach does not exist, or has been moved. Please use the menus or the search box to find what you are looking for”

Also someone suggested running a security scan, and provided the https://sitecheck.sucuri.net site. I ran the scan and it says that my site is clean. Which is a relief.

BUT… I have no idea what to do. Appreciate any help
