When I use a sandbox account I have to go in complete the order manually then click return to merchant. In this case the download button is there straight away…

When I pay for real I get auto returned to the site and in this case I have to refresh the page before I can see the download button – could it be connected to auto return?

I was using WP fastest cache but I removed the plugin completely and the problem still happens. The cach on the server was also switched off so I think it must be something else.

Any more ideas?

Also, can you please reconfirm what the order status for the purchase is? With the download permissions checked as per my previous response, only processing and completed statuses are granted permission to download the product.

I am testing with a sandbox Paypal account, so by the time I get the confirmation email the order status is on hold… I don’t know what it is when I first get redirected from Paypal though – where can I find that info?

Could it be that I’m not seeing the download link because I’m testing in Paypal sandbox? If so, how can I find out what real customers are seeing?

Workflow from the product page:
Customers click ‘add to Trolley'(go to cart page) Then ‘proceed to checkout'(go to checkout page) Then Proceed to Paypal (and get redirected to Paypal) Once they have paid they click return to merchant to get back to the orders recieved page (as it is a personal rather than a business Paypal account)

On the orders received page there is a link to the product page but no link to download the product. The customer gets the link in a confirmation email.

I have realised that the link on the orders recieved page isn’t for the download itself… is it possible to put a download link on there?

I am using Paypal, but not Paypal checkout as the site owner only has a personal Paypal account.. Could that be why I can’t grant access to the download on the site?

I tested the email and the link that comes in the email is correct.

It is a downloadable voucher which they download and print…

I have unticked virtual so that it is only downloadable.

The link for the downloadable file set in the product is: https://janescottceramics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/workshop.jpg – this is the URL of the voucher itself

When I get directed back after paypal and click the link for the product it directs to: https://janescottceramics.com/product/workshop-voucher/ – this is the URL of the product page

Grant access to downloadable products is already ticked.

Just to clarify, I am asking what I need to add to this code to make it apply to the first post in the list as well as the subsequent ones.

I now know that the last line was wrong, but I don’t think that is what is causing the problem as removing it has no effect.

I would like to sell 2 versions of the same product (childrens and adults downloadable vouchers) at 2 different prices.

I would like the customer to be able to select the number they want of each type and then go to the checkout. I don’t want them to buy one type without the other.

I don’t want to add two files as one product because the customer might want 3 or 4 or….

I have tried to use grouped products, but although the customer chose 1 adult and 2 children, only one of each voucher was in the email for him to download.

I don’t know if I am right to use grouped products and have just made a mistake in setting it up, or if I am on the wrong track entirely.

Does anyone know how to do this?

The customer bought one adult voucher and 2 child vouchers. The correct payment was taken but only one adult and one child came through.

I want people to be able to be able to select the number they want of each – but not to be able to buy a child voucher without an adult one.

I have read the article but it doesn’t really shed any light on what I may be doing wrong. Are grouped products the correct way to do this?

I took the easy route in the end and removed all the copywriting in the header… so now the checkout page works.
