    Hi arbitrhand,
Unfortunately, you can only import basic Multiple Choice – Text questions with the CSV import tool.

In order to allow for Select all that apply question types, the “answers” field in the CSV would need to be formatted as an JSON array. Not a technical issue, but an ease of use issue. The amount of questions I have to answer just to help people properly format the current CSV makes me think that most people simply wouldn’t be able to figure out how to format the answers as an array.

Your best option is to import them as regular questions, then once imported, edit them to check off the additional correct answers and to change the question type.

Maybe in the future I’ll create an “advanced” import mode for users like you though!

    Hi Audienceteam,
I do not think that it is possible for a solution to this (at least not a perfect one), as it is a logical problem, not a coding one. But I am open to suggestions if you have an idea.

The issue you have is the combination of:

    • Immediately mark question as correct or incorrect
    • Always show the extra text even if user gets the question correct
    • Select all that apply question type

The select all that apply question type works by awarding a point if the user selects ALL the correct answers and NONE of the incorrect answers.

The logical issue now is that if we immediately mark the question as correct once the user has selected all the correct answers, we would then have to lock the question and remove the ability for them to select an incorrect answer., making the question a lot easier for users.

Basically, it’s possible to immediately mark a question as incorrect as soon as an incorrect answer has been chosen (since we know with 100% certainty that they are wrong), but not possible to immediately mark as correct since even if *currently* all correct answers are selected, a user can always select an incorrect answer before completing the quiz.

This is why the extra text DOES still show for that question type once the quiz has been completed. Once the quiz completes, it becomes impossible for a user to change their answer, so we can officially mark that question type.

If this is absolutely a priority for you right now, I recommend disabling the “immediately mark answer as correct or incorrect” and placing your results back above the quiz. The reason the results default to above the quiz is so that on quiz completion, the page scrolls past the now fully marked quiz, visually showing the user that they can scroll down to review their results. This should help users be able to see the extra text for all questions without worrying about missing anything.

Another idea would be to keep the immediately mark option, but remove the always show extra text even if the question is correct option. This way, the extra text only shows when the question in incorrect. Then I can provide you with some small custom code that will only run once the quiz has been completed to show the extra text for ALL questions so that a user can still review their quiz. Just an idea!

    Hi aj20152015,
first, thanks for checking browser/cache. Always a great first debugging step.

Can you provide any information other than “not working”? HD Quiz and shortcodes are perfectly compatible with Elementor, so it would be useful to know any other information such as if you were getting an error or message, or even if “nothing” happened.

A user in the past had a similar issue when they installed the Limit Attempts addon, but never configured it. So if you installed that addon as well, please make sure to set up the settings for it before trying to use live quizzes.

The video was made when the addon was first created. It is always being worked on and updated with new feature and ideas. As I said, I recommend looking at the screenshots.

Here are the two most relevant for your convenience. As you can see, there are two “checkbox” styles as well which might be more to your liking. You can also consider using the Image-based question type as that turns each answer into a “clickable” box (but the toggles are still present for accessibility). You can view the quiz demo to see this question type (it’s question 4).

    Hi stephunique,
HD Quiz has a paginate feature. You can use this to only have 1 question showing at a time. You can also use the WP Paginate feature, but that is not recommended as it creates literal new pages, thus is not compatible with all features.

As for the toggles, if you know CSS, you can change them to look however you like. I recommend looking at the Styler addon again and checking out the screenshots. That will show you the built-in “toggle themes” that the addon has.

    Hi again,
the answer you are looking for is “WordPress” haha.

The WordPress import tool is asking you where you got your export file from. You got your export from another WordPress site, so that is the import tool you should run.

When running the tool, there will also be an option, something like “import attachments”. This should allow you to grab the images during the import as well (not 100% sure if you need to have the images pre-uploaded or not though. Been a while since I used this tool myself)

    Hi thompsonaire,
HD Quiz is actually compatible with WordPress’ native import/export tool ??

From your WordPress admin area, select Tools ? Export from the admin menu. From here, just make sure you select “Questions” and WordPress will generate and XML export for you that you can use on another site.

Excellent, and thank you for responding with your solution!

For ease of access to anyone else who may see this — this is a host dependent issue. From the “I have a problem with the CSV importer” section of the documentation:

Make sure that the filename is unique. Sometimes hosts struggle when you upload a raw file with an existing filename. So try renaming your CSV file something A) unique, and B) something that has no spaces or special characters.

    Hi hazlebury,
I can assure you that the importer still works.

The 0 / 0 message implies that there is a server issue on your end, or possibly an improperly formatted CSV file.

The first thing you should do is try the upload with the example CSV file. This will help you determine if the issue is your site/host, or your CSV file. Then please read the “I have a problem with the CSV importer” section of the documentation.

As a last resort, you can also take a look at this previous support thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/error-the-uploaded-file-is-not-a-csv/#post-16356180

    Hi audienceteam,
the problem is one of the plugins you have installed, Meow Lightbox. It sees that there is an image inside a link and thinks that you want to show that image inside of a lightbox instead of… going to where the link is pointing.

It looks like that plugin has a feature “anti selector” which is good news. That allows you to ignore certain links.

I cannot test this myself, but you can try entering .hdq_social_icon > a, .hdq_social_icon > a > img as an anti selector and see if that works. If not, you might want to contact Meow Lightbox on their page for further support. I’m sure they can tell help you set up better selectors.

This is not a quick topic to talk about, but I’ll do my best. But first, know that everything I talk about here is targeted towards Android, Linux, and Windows. Hell, even some car media consoles and smart TVs. Your success with Apple devices, however, will be… varied.

PWAs are your answer. PWA is a Progressive Web App and essentially allows you to “install” a website. They’re a web devs dream. You can even package a PWA as an APK and upload to the Google Play Store. Here is a proof of concept I added back in 2019, What Size Is It?.

Apple of course is where it falls apart as they do everything in their power to crush open technology and standards, even going as far as banning PWAs in Europe in February, only to reverse the ban last month. A lot of PWA functionality is also restricted on Apple devices, such as notification support.

So if you want to turn your quizzes into apps to upload to the play store, a PWA is your best bet. But you will still need coding knowledge or need to hire the work out to get done.

Thanks for the link. Taking a look, I think that the following css should work well for your theme.

    .hdq_quiz .hdq_input { border-style: solid !important; border-width: 2px !important; background-color:#efefef !important}

You can either add that to your theme’s style.css file, or, assuming your theme is compatible with it, go to Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS.

    Hi vogelspotters,
if you can provide a link to an active quiz, I can give you some custom CSS to override your theme’s styles for HD Quiz.
