I think the plugin i suggested is a good one and is used and recommended by many.

Or you can try using similar another plugin to add header code. There are lots of such plugins available for free in WordPress.

You can not make change to direct code. You will need to use some plugin that allows to add code on header or footer and add those code. One of the plugin that i can suggest is https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/head-footer-code/
