In reply to: Site URL and WP URLDisregard – Redoing it again worked. I must have 1) messed up OR 2) somehow my browser cached the old site.
It’s all gravy now.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Site URL and WP URLI did and that’s where I get the “Oops, this page cannot be found” message on when I go to my main page now.

In reply to: subdirectory WP install with HTML site livewordpress URL : https://www.werk-build.com/wordpress

(these are copied directly from what I’ve entered so not get anything confused)Re: reading settings:
Front page – Static – Home page.
This is because the theme I am using requires it to be set to home page. The issue I imagine is that I can’t change the permalink for this to say /wordpress/
But I’m confused here because I have set in Permalinks the custom structure to be website.com/wordpress/%postname%/Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: subdirectory WP install with HTML site liveJames!
I found the issue with getting the theme installed. I’m not completely out of the woods but the issue was something installed on the service side BY THE HOST. I contacted them and it was sorted quickly. The issue now remains that when I go to my website: werk-build.com/wordpress I still get a blank page.
I checked to make sure the index.php file wasn’t located in the root. Doing that overwrites my index.html website and then I just have full blown WP not in a subdirectory. I don’t know how that works but I cannot do that just yet.I am able to edit my website through the back as you’ve described BUT I just can’t see the changes. I’ve figured out to get a peek, I can quickly put the index.php file into the root, check the site and see the changes, then change the index.php file to something like -index.php so it isn’t read.

In reply to: subdirectory WP install with HTML site liveI’ve completely restarted the entire process. I’ve followed the WP instructions to a T! I then followed the instructions for what to do if you are in a sub-directory. I’ve unfortunately taken my html site offline while trying to do this, although I fear my boss may not agree with that decision. I am successfully able to view all of the default themes.
I suppose this is where my help ends as I cannot get any premium themes to display at all. When “Live Preview”ing the theme I would like to use, it displays the currently active theme (2016) and says “Oops this page cannot be found”… I’ve not received a bit of help from the developer, either.
It seems I’m stuck in an awkward spot that I’ll call the gray area between free and paid.
When and if I do, I’ll be sure to post the solution for others if they are so crazy to do this.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: subdirectory WP install with HTML site liveDone and done.
What happens now when I preview is I just see the HTML site.
Did I miss a step in how to get around the html stuffs? I know this is a less than ideal situation and if it were up to me, I’d say, let’s slap on a “maintenance mode” thing and go for it.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: subdirectory WP install with HTML site liveBoth are currently https://www.werk-build.com/wp
But I believe I had tried
WP as https://www.werk-build.com/wp
and Site as https://www.werk-build.com/
But it didn’t seem to do anything. I’m clearly not very knowledgeable. I appreciate any direction and help you can offer.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Subfolder Installation issueNot sure if this post is still live but I have wordpress installed in /wp (as stated above) and the twenty fifteen theme is activated. When i go to the haus-arch.com/wp I get a 404. It appears that it’s looking in the root for some of the files? Any way to keep my html site live while I mess with the wp install and not have it looking at the root?

In reply to: Subfolder Installation issueConfirmed: Twenty Fifteen theme works.

In reply to: Subfolder Installation issueThat’s exactly what I thought but they claimed they it worked on their end so it must be my problem…and of course it’s not covered under their service agreement… so I’m back to square one. ??
I’m going to work on doing a fresh install of WP and confirming that twenty fifteen does in fact work.
Thank you for help esmiForum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Subfolder Installation issueI sought help from them and they weren’t helpful at all. They said it was my host issue.
Is it possible that I set can set up with a non-commercial theme?
