We had a conference call this morning on the subject. We should leave it as it is. No evaluation in individual categories, that will not simplify the discussion. Sinder only shift into the individual categories. You can still make the subdivision so fine, but in the end it will never be really objective, but often influenced by personal taste.
We clarify the points then in a picture discussion.

    Yes, that looks good.

I still got feedback now after how the reviews discussed. The problem is that some of the ratings are very far apart and some do not follow the rules exactly.

A rating with 10 points is made up of three individual assessments.
    1. theme (theme or default met, expression, what does the photographer want to say with it)

    2. composition (design and composition)

    3. technique and quality.

    Each category gets three points.
One extra point for the top photo.

    My question (idea)

If I divide the 10 stars in the ranking area into 3/3/3/1
and I rate in the segments, I also get a total number analogous to the current rating. But I can reproduce the rating.

    Is something like this practicable?

Great, that makes sense. We were close, but it just fit with different results.

The first competition could be successfully completed after all evaluators have cast their votes, I have finished the evaluation and could immediately(!) present the result. Super.

All in all, everyone praised the process, the evaluation and the presentation of the results very much and we will continue to use this now. Many thanks for that!

Other groups have also expressed interest and I will present it in March to see if it is right for them.

I know that there is a different kind of judging and also that the uploadtool needs a bigger functionality. A first short test with WPPA+ shows me that some adjustments would be necessary.

Also for the judging the current point system is not suitable in all phases. But I think with a few filters and batch functions this would be relatively fast feasible.

The website is not public and only accessible to users.
At the moment it is a service supplement for our main page and will perhaps replace this in the course of the year. I’m working on it and wanted to test the readiness of the members to what extent they accept the new tool and also actively participate in the design of the albums.

The voting is still running until the end of the week and I therefore do not want to publish anything. Also because I have seen that other clubs in the area also use WPPA+ and maybe someone is reading ??

The page with the evaluation is of course not visible for users and is located in a special admin area.

I will gladly send you a screenshot/link via email if that is ok.

Great, just great. I like the medals!
    Will install it later.

    Thank you very much!

the new design looks much better. I also like the integration of the thumbnails.

I will install it tonight, currently the first reviews are coming in and I don’t want to risk any interruptions.

But the first feedbacks are extremely positive and I am very satisfied. Many thanks to you for your great support.

Sorry, no, that was a misunderstanding. If the winner is on top, then the runner-up and so on, that’s fine.

just saw the email before I wanted to enjoy the sun ??

Yes, this looks very good, actually just like my pivot table.
In the example the ranking is equal to the photo order.
Can you make the sorting equal to the ranking, starting at the top with the winner?

Yes, that would be very good, then I could post that on very easily on the contest page!

I think rating 1 with the overall result is very close.
The photo number (w#seqno) should be included in the overview, like Bild# in my table.

I would then create the detailed evaluation with a report, similar to the pivot table.

Yes, all photos are in an album and only these photos count.

    Thread Starter haween

    (@haween)

Yes, that’s pretty close to it.
In the current contest there is only 1 photo per user, of course there can be more.
Here is my example of how I am currently doing it:
I have downloaded the *.csv files and created a pivot table.

Bild#	Bewerter	Punkte	Fotoname	Owner	Ranking
    280	Willi	1	2018_GH5-3332.jpg	Horst
    	Test1	1	2018_GH5-3332.jpg	Horst
    	Test2	1	2018_GH5-3332.jpg	Horst
    	Test3	1	2018_GH5-3332.jpg	Horst

    Thank you very much,
    that is very good!
So you can wonderfully give the rating safely!

    >PS: Numerical display does NOT work on lightbox.
That was the reason why I first wanted to take the stars. But I prefer a clear and unambiguous rating. Is better so!

Currently the first contest is running. From Monday can then be evaluated for a week. I’m curious how the new tool is received.
    After that comes the evaluation.

Can you filter and export the ratings for an album?

I had done that in the test via a database query, or is that also possible via the admin page? I saw there is only a total list. We do not calculate the average, but the total score.

In the review we look at the ratings of the individual photographers. Therefore, the list must contain all ratings per user and photos.

Thanks again for the great help and support! Also that the changes were implemented so promptly.

A phrase with us in Germany says: Ganz gro?es Kino > Great cinema. ??

    Many greetings

Thank you, the change in the album works very well, so I can adjust description to the current state of the contest.
But I have to go to the tableIX-D5 every time.
Not a big problem, but could also edit the text in the message box?

    About the stars:
Yes I have reduced the visibility of the stars. But if I want to give for example 7 points ( stars) to a photo, I have to recount the stars in my head. Surely a 5 star rating would be easier to see, but the German photo association works with 10 points and we went with that.

The display when hoovering always comes a little delayed that I feel then too slow.

A good alternative would be the numerical display. But the numbers would have to be larger. I have not found a change in size. As with the stars about 15-20 px. The inactive numbers a bit lighter and the selected value possibly bold green. That would be then clear.
