Here is an example that I think agrees with the official government figures. They peg the last official number as $35.95T on 11/14 and show it now growing to $35.977T. These sound more reasonable knowing what we know about the debt.

United States National Debt Tracker (Real-Time)

Thanks for the quick response, but before I sent this note I compared the calculation to four other websites that track the debt and they all seem to be headed up, not down. The speed of the growth in the debt would seem to me to overcome any temporary drop. The figures you cited are probably right, but would that not just establish a new baseline from which the debt rises? That is a correction to the previous estimates, not a trend.

I looked at the USDebtClock.org, The Treasury Department, and two others claiming to connect to these. The White House website pegs the debt at about $4 T lower, but that is pure propaganda from what I read. Not even the Treasury would accept the WH figures. I know that there has to be some estimation between official reporting dates, but if it drops it would seem to me that it establishes a new baseline from which it can only rise.

I ran into a discussion yesterday talking about the debt going down, but that was in relation to tax season and payments, which established a new floor. Every website that reports the debt that I can find has it rising. I am concerned that if I use your plugin my users will just disregard the figures as incorrect.

    Thanks and a good discussion.

I thought everything was fine until I noticed the clock is counting down, not up.

I wish the national debt was going down, but we all know it is not.

    Any ideas?

If you are looking at my site now you are seeing the previous version. I had to roll back to it for now.

My issue may be the desire to format text to match other default text I am using. I therefore bury the shortcode in a text box. By rolling back to the previous release I got back to a workable solution.

Same here. The basic [quotes-llama] functionality no longer spaces correctly. I am becoming concerned about installing updates since each one seems to have issues.

Sorry but with the update nothing works for me except the basic quote

The category= gives you nothing and almost locks down the site because the pages are either looking for something that is not there or in a loop

    I tried cat=”Education”] cat=Education] cat=’Education’] cat=’Education]

The last one gave me a result but I did not have time to check if it was correct before I had to leave for a meeting

I bet somewhere out there in WP land there is a CSS expert that would help you. Maybe even on Redit or similar sites. My coding days are long past me and I am using WP and plugins to avoid coding. At 76 I want to create not code any longer.

What was working for me was burying 3 shortcodes in a text box

    [quotes-llama]

    [quotes-llama]

    [quotes-llama]

I did it this way so that I can format the text to match the other elements on the page

I just put it back out there so you could see it

You might need to refresh the page to see the issue: Home – Pillars of the Republic

I had a few minutes and retested with the three buried in a text box. All seems to work without slowing page loads.

If I have one suggestion it would be on placement of the quote author. It apparently is placed at the bottom of the working space and when you have multiple quotes it is difficult to separate them visually.

I tried doing three separate text boxes, but there you run the danger of quotes duplicating themselves.

You can see the spacing issue here https://pillarsoftherepublic.com/

    Thanks

I have had a number of issues and I appreciate you working on them. As I remember the issues they were:

Release 2.1.1 my images suddenly stopped sizing to the correct dimensions, which was subsequently fixed.

Release 2.1.2 things just seemed to go haywire. The WISIWIG in Elementor did not work and what I created did not relate to what showed up on the published page. If I had more than one or more quotes on a page, it went into some strange loop and my page loads suddenly went as long as 15 seconds. I ran some diagnostics, and it identified this plugin as the issue, so I just had to deactivate its use for now. I tried both the Elementor and the shortcode methods of using the plugin and the same problems were there.

Another challenge, and why I settled on the shortcode in a text box, is that you cannot get the quote font to match your other work without some way of specifying the font. The only way around that I could find was to use the shortcode within a text box.

I like to have three quotes on a page when I present them and did not have a problem using the text editor with shortcode in it. But a way to use the [quotes-llama] shortcode with a specified number of quotes might be cleaner. It did work for me just listing the shortcode three times, but that seems to be a sort of junky way to do it.

Because of other conflicts I have not tried any subsequent releases, but will once I have time.

    Thanks and hope this helps.

Sorry we had a family medical emergency and i just had to put things down. give me a few days and i will get the details on the issues to you. Thanks.

I also found that the author image is wrong, or just different from previous versions. It is larger which crowds the container in Elementor and makes spacing off by just enough to cause a problem

I am not quite sure what happened but the images suddenly went back to correctly proportioned. I assume it was a conflict with another plugin that got updated and removed the conflict.

    Thanks

I want to noodle around on this one some more and try to find the constraint. I can find no setting on my side from before and after the latest release that would cause the issue.

But in the wonderful world of open source someone other than you can make a change and I might be using a plugin that seems unrelated and has some strange connection.

I will check more and get back to you. Thanks for continuing to help.
