In reply to: [ACF: Better Search] Timeout only in admin and only for one custom post typeIt’s been an ongoing issue for over two years but just to double check I installed the downgraded 3.8.1 version and tested. Weirdly it didn’t timeout but after a minute or so it returned no results even though I searched a simple keyword that appears in quite a few of the post titles.
Again, it works fine on front end (here it is in action: https://www.biartmuseum.org/?s=art ) and it works quickly and efficiently on pages, posts, just not on admin searches of the custom post type “event.”
My stopgap before was hacking the plugin code to disable it on admin search since it works as expected on the front-end search and the client really only wants to search titles in the admin anyway.

In reply to: [ACF: Better Search] Timeout only in admin and only for one custom post typeOk well thanks for responding.
It has been in Lite mode the whole time.
I timed this one broken search combination (one specific custom post post type in admin search) at 90 seconds before I got the bad gateway message so increasing the server timeout doesn’t feel like a valid solution for me.
In the past I’ve hacked the plugin to not run at all in the admin search so I suppose I’ll just keep doing that unless you have any other troubleshooting ideas for me.
Thank you.

In reply to: [ACF: Better Search] Timeout only in admin and only for one custom post type_posts has 2860 rows and _postmeta has 58965 rows.
Seems strange to me though that searching normal “post” post types works basically instantaneously.
Let me know if you need any other info.
Thanks for your help!
@wfgerald Ok well I just had a very unhelpful support chat with Media Temple where they said the MySQL version on shared hosting (Media Temple – Grid) cannot be updated and then they referred me to this thread (ha) and implied that upgrading to dedicated hosting was the (only?) solution. (I am definitely not going to switch to dedicated hosting as I am more of a front-end dev and any kind of dedicated hosting has always proved to be a nightmare for me.)
I am getting ready to just give up on having Wordfence work on this site unless anyone has any other troubleshooting steps for me to try.
It just confuses me that two other WordPress installs on the exact same hosting account (with the same version of MySQL) would work and this one would not work.
Anyway, let me know if you have any other ideas but otherwise I appreciate the time and effort.
Cheers
@wfgerald Ok, I’ll see if the host will update the MySQL version and try it again.
I will note that other sites on this hosting account all use the same version of MySQL and the others are working.
I’ll follow up here when I hear back from the host though.
Thank you
Hey @wfgerald thanks for the quick response! I’ve just send the diagnostics. It is on the same shared hosting account as the other sites that can run the scan successfully but I don’t know exactly how they divvy up the actual physical servers with the shared hosting. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks again!

In reply to: [ACF: Better Search] Enhancement: Add On/Off Setting For Admin SearchHi, thank you for the response.
I didn’t see a noticeable change with Lite mode in the admin search unfortunately.
I still think an option in the settings area to turn off ACF search in the admin would be extremely helpful in many situations.
My case is an event calendar where there are hundreds of events, each with flexible content fields with potentially large amounts of ACF content for each event. The admin user just wants to find an event and make a duplicate of it. If they search for a key word and pages of events match, that is not particularly helpful.
Either way, thank you for the very helpful plugin!

In reply to: [ACF: Better Search] Searching Taxonomy FieldsHere are screenshots hopefully outlining the whole experience. Basically when I search for a custom taxonomy term that is attached to a custom post type, that post is not appearing in the search results. Please let me know if you need more information, and if so, what information would be helpful. Thank you!
