In case anyone finds this thread via search we have discovered that bluberry powerpress is friendly with custom post types if anyone is looking for a compatible podcasting plugin. It is important to note that you need to do the “hack” to make events show in the main feed if you want podcasts in the events posts to show up in the itunes feed.

Yes everything seems to be resolved thanks!

I actually tried that as a workaround but I am still getting a 404 on my podcasting feed. I’m not entirely sure how the podcasting plugin queries to find the posts that have podcasts in them.

Probably isn’t important though – I am thinking its more useful to just have all of the podcasts in one place rather than all over like I have them now which is why a custom post might be good and have a “podcast page” kindof like how you have gridview on a page for TEC.

Thanks Rob. Not exactly. I have slowly discovered 2 things.

    1) ical feed – I had to do some digging but eventually I discovered according to your website the iCal feed is not available for non-pro users since you made the move to 2.0. Assuming we stay with this plugin for events we will eventually pay for pro.

    2) podcasting feed – I was trying to use our podcast in a non-traditional way to try and help people find what they need. because our podcast is just a recording of a live event (sermons in this case) I wanted people to simply look at a Sunday they missed and be able to find all the information about it there (powerpoint, notes, audio, visuals, etc.) With the switch to a custom post type Podacsting by TSG can no longer find the posts with podcasts in it. This may be for the better but it will be a lot of work editing all of those posts and creating a new podcast feed.

One other thing is that no one has created a podcasting plugin that uses custom post types yet! This I think would be an awesome alternative to what is out there right now *wink wink*
