what’s happening with steve is happening to me as well. using 3.03 and just updated to nextgen 1.7. i also cleared the browser’s cache twice. on both firefox and chrome. the admin page of nextgen is also blank. all that’s there are the wp’s menus.

php4 support: i know. my host is yahoo and i have asked them several times _when_ are they going to upgrade to using php5. and the standard answer i get is that “yahoo’s customers are happy with php4 so they don’t see any need to upgrade anytime soon”. they’ll sink soon enough if they do not change that point of view or attitude. actively looking for another host that fit my needs.

to test the plugin, i tried activating it and the plugins page gave me the following error:

okay. i’ll take your word for it. i deleted it from the server already but i have a copy in my workstation in case i have time later on to mess with it.

it was in a subdirectory under my tmp subdirectory in the server. the plugins manager told me it disabled the thing and i got suspicious — a plugin in the tmp subdirectory?!? i couldn’t delete it at first. permission denied, the server said. so i had to change the permissions and not make it executable. after a day i was able to delete it. i just want to know what it does, don’t you?

it took be a good few minutes just to select all – copy – paste a 49k file. ugh.

i’d like to post it there but i’m having a hard time just doing a ‘select all’ on either gedit or bluefish. ugh. i tried notepad under wine and just doing a copy after a select all crashed the program hence the screenshot. i could, however, send file to an e-mail address of your choosing.

strange about the dns resolution thing. the site is on yahoo. (i know, i know.)

edit: may i send the file to your otto destruct dot com e-mail address?

i’m sorry but the solution you pointed out in your site doesn’t work for me. i checked profile settings… thrice — i have a qualified e-mail address there ever since the start. and it still doesn’t send me notifications.

hmmm… i have the same problem with four wordpress blogs but not on the fifth. here are my observations.

things in common:
all blogs are all running wordpress 2.6
all blogs are on yahoo small biz webhosting
all blogs are running the same version of wp-db-backup
all blogs have php mail enabled.

differences:
– blogs 1 – 4 are located in their own subdomain. i.e. blog1.example.com; blog2.example.com, etc. these subdomains are set within the yahoo control panel.
– blog number 5 is located in a subdirectory, ie. example.com/blog5/

my guess is that in blogs 1 to 4 the mails are sent to [email protected] instead of [email protected].

so i’m not sure if this is a yahoo thing or a wordpress thing.

and all the error logs can tell me is:
2008 Jul 26 03:20:19 Result: 9
2008 Jul 26 03:20:19 From address not in member domain. Message not sent.

the rub here is that in all the blogs (1-5) does not have a [email protected] address but it still works with blog 5. i tried creating an alias for wordpress in blogs 1 – 4 but i still cannot send out backups by mail.

i think they found a fix here.

assuming you’re tried logging in the usual way and still get that, by now, pesky “please log in again.” notice,

1. go to your home page.
2. in the admin section of the sidebar you should see a “log out” link. click on that.
3. then the screen will/should refresh. log in by clicking on the “log in” link under admin.
4. suppy your username/password
5. and you should be able to access your dashboard

you’d have to log out first then login again which effectively clears some wordpress cookies.

just a clarification, what version of wordpress do you have installed in yahoo? and do you have the wp-cache plugin installed and activated?
