Working Now!

I enabled debugging and logging. The log file shows some index warnings, but nothing about this plugin. I disable (for the third time) a similar plugin I was using then create and re-create the indexes n Phpmyadimn… and it works ??

Now I have to fiddle with the settings. Finally, I got it right. The first opening of the page was very slow 40+ sec until it was cashed (HTML page type). refreshing the page to return to normal load speed 0.69 ms.

I wanted to give a plugin another try. Now it won’t activate!? I guess it has to do something with old indexes, so I remove two FULLTEXT indexes in posts. Now activation took a bit more time but still didn’t activate.

As for the other plugin updates yesterday no. WP too no update? Just your plugin? Nor did I install any other plugin.
This is very strange. Everything else works fine when I disable it.

I love your plugin I’m using it probably from the earliest realized. Never have such a problem. My blog is huge over 8000+ posts. Most developers don’t test on such a huge database.

Please just drop a note here when you think you fix a problem. So I give it another try.

Actually made it work by changing this setting under “List Tuning”: Related posts should be newer than 0.

I put 10000 instead of 0 and it works fine now.

Yes now is working!

First apologies for the short review. I though yesterday I’ll return after more testing and add why is not working. But the edit was disabled.

Please don’t make remarks on rebooting the server. If you read my post you’ll see that pxp exc time is set to 120s. This is normally very bad, but few major plugins need that time (bad coding). In your yesterday case, I was waiting 3 min to get the ssh prompt to sudo and reboot. Console prompt was more then slow motion so reboot was faster option. That bad it was. Well try infinite loop with so many slq connection. ??

Lets back to how is working now!

1. The buttons on media grid load fast
2. After renaming a title, plugin renames all instances (size) of the file and update reference in post. Didn’t try on pages. Updating reference in post/page is key feature as I see.

Now is def doing what is advertised.

I must say that renaming of one file last form 37-45 sec.
You should measure the time on some smaler media library. This can be the problems on the hosted sites where pxp exc time is set to 30s (that’s what most hosting companies keep as def.) Well, users can tweak that, if they know how.

Well after all of this I have no use (now) for your plugin.
My client after changing the hosting, manage to screw his huge media library. All the files that have e.g (à) in file name get (??) instead, and so on. Your plugin see the empty reference in media library but don’t see those file names, which is normal since this is different file name. No blame for your plugin in this case.

I do rename my files correctly (SEO) before upload and set alt and caption attributes. Alt tag and caption are SEO important but you have to fix them manually after renaming a file. OK, you can improve one part of the SEO with proper filenames, but again you have to go back and fix the alt, caption tags!? I guess this is for those who just drops files from camera, web … in the med. library, and than find out that something is not right.

Jordy, your plugin didn’t work yesterday me, you get ones star. If I could edit my initial post now, I’ll give you a 4 start.
If you know how 2 do that let me know.

I must disagree with this.

On billion of posts, a simple query such as SELECT id FROM wp_posts will crash. And that’s a huge problem. When you develop something, you need to know for what. For a little blogger or for the NASA? With WP, you can’t know.

If the WP can handle 5,5k post 4.4k cats and 600k media files smoothly the plugins must do the same. You are forking in CMS system (WP) not design it. So size doesn’t mater in this case.

On billion of posts: SELECT id FROM wp_posts will crash

If you don’t get mem overflow it will last few sec (mysql> SELECT BENCHMARK(1000000,1+1);). But what will you do with this query result. Why would you need 1 billion ID’s in $sql array()?

Review the plugin accordingly, based on that whole experience

Here is my whole experience.

I spent 2 hours and reboot my server 3 times because your plugin that eat all the memory trying to iterate through my 600k+ media library. That’s whole experience. My experience is don’t work on large media library. It’s using unlimited loops through whole media library. Even with the 120s php exc time script can’t finish the job, but it will eat all the server memory.

Don’t have a chance to see how it works when it works. It may work on small media library, but that’s not my case. Good scripts doesn’t have to be limited on amount of data.

We are developer comp. with 20+ years experience. There was no need to open support ticket (pro???)
since is very clear that it’s design problem, not a bug.

Instead of beien pissed off, restructure your plugin and limit the queries!
WP evolved from simple blogging platform to powerful CMS that can handle huge amount of data perfectly. Good script (again) must not be limited by amount of data that have to proces.

First of all WP evolved from simple blogging platform to powerful CMS. So 600k media files and 5k post & 4k categories is not a problem for WP, but it is problem for some plugins, that don’t have that in mind. Good scripting have nothing to do with amount of data!

How is my post not help?

Yes I have to reboot because; PHP exc time is set to 120s, because of the poorly written scripts that need little bit more time to do the job, and I need them. In your case it eats all available memory, freeze the server so I could hardly ssh to reboot and didn’t do the job. Tried three times, reboot 3 times! It acts like endless loop, I guess is not, but on such amount of data it acts like one.

The devil is not in the details here, it’s in concept. I’ll quote you:

Why then automatic? Why messing with the whole media library?

Just count how many queries in one main loop iteration you have to execute!? Multiply that with x media files? If you want to stick to this auto concept limit the queries to e.g 20-25 media files, than user can auto rename on click. Same with whatever buttons you are adding to media grid, add them dynamically page by page while user browse media library.

I didn’t have a chance to see how this plugin works, but if it’s messing with my data without my approval (automatic) maybe is better that didn’t work!

But reviewing it one star, that hurts me and the plugin, I am not sure why you are doing this. It really doesn’t help. Thanks, that’s a fantastic Christmas present…

Not working for me! It might work on bunch of files but my media library is 55 GB

and contain exactly 684.764 files in 86 folders. Enable the plugin and then have to reboot the server.

What about first checking the size on media library and then running this killer loop!!!
