Not quite sure I’m interpreting the question correctly, but …
So are you saying that if a post has published, and I go back to edit it (for whatever reason) and then click the UPDATE button, another email notification will go out?

In reply to: [Post Notif] inactive @@unsubscribeurlOK, it’s Monday. I received the email notification. The “unsubscribe” link appears correctly with a valid active URL (as you suspected it would). I presume the same thing happened for all my subscribers since it was the same email template that was sent to them. Consider my original question RESOLVED! Thanks.

In reply to: [Post Notif] inactive @@unsubscribeurlGreetings Devon, and thanks for your quick response.
Yeah I had also been using the old Post Notification plug-in for years, then just last week discovered a WP upgrade had broken it. No idea how long my subscribers were going w/o post notices, but at least nobody complained. Then I discovered your plug-in and it looked like the perfect replacement, thanks! Very easy UI and does everything I need it to.
Yes, my post notifications go out every Monday, so we’ll just have to wait till then to see what happens. I thought I read somewhere in your documentation that the test emails wouldn’t resolve some of those variables, but couldn’t find it when when I went looking. So that’s why I posted my question.
I sent you a screencap of my settings via personal email, as requested. Pretty sure they should work, and that the issue was just with Test Send.
If you’re curious why I put that subscribe widget on a separate page, the “dark” theme of my site was just visually overwhelmed by the white text box. So I’m using the Display Widget plug-in to control which widgets appear on specific pages. Pretty handy plug-in. I tried to change the background color via CSS but none of the selectors I found with the Firefox inspector tool seemed to work. So this was an acceptable workaround. Would be great if you added that ability in the plug-in settings, as well as font choices for the subscribe widget. Would also be great to have a short-code to insert that box on a page. Otherwise no complaints.
So we’ll see what happens on Monday with those post notifications, and if all goes as expected I’ll “buy you a cup of coffee” via PayPal. Thanks again.

In reply to: [PayPal Digital Downloads] security upgrades at PayPalBUMP! Been over a week now and still no response from Scott.

In reply to: [PayPal Digital Downloads] When 2 Buttons on 1 Page No PopupThanks satur9web. That’s kinda what I figured. About as much work as just creating a whole new page for each item sold. Thought maybe you’d found some other type of workaround.
So I’m just gonna go with separate pages for each item. Again, disappointed that the plugin doesn’t do what it claims. At least it does everything else it claims, and makes the PayPal API interface easy.

In reply to: [PayPal Digital Downloads] When 2 Buttons on 1 Page No PopupHey, I’m having the same problem. Disappointed that the plugin doesn’t do what it claims. Can’t get my second button to work on the same page.
About ready to give up and just create a separate page for each button. Pain in the ass, but I need to make this work.
satur9web, can you post a snippet of code showing how you used iframes to get multiple buttons on the same page? Thanks.

In reply to: [PayPal Digital Downloads] credit card payment optionSorry for the double post, but I wanted to report that this “issue” has been resolved. Turns out that credit cards are indeed enabled.
The friend I asked to test the Buy button failed to notice the option to “proceed as a guest” which takes you directly to the credit card UI. I guess I need to learn more about how to use PayPal. ??
So at this point I’d like to make a modest donation to this plugin, but I see no Donate button anywhere. I’ve already done a nice review, but would like to contribute to your development efforts. Scott, how can I buy you a cup of coffee?

In reply to: [PayPal Digital Downloads] Error on line 239 in PayPal popup windowWOOHOO! Whatever you did, that fixed it. Thank you sir. No errors, and I got taken right to the PayPal gateway in a popup window as expected. I’ll leave a glowing review. ??

In reply to: [PayPal Digital Downloads] Error on line 239 in PayPal popup windowbump …
Sorry about that, but I see on other threads it sometimes takes a bump to get noticed.

In reply to: [PayPal Digital Downloads] Error on line 239 in PayPal popup windowYeah, I’m getting exactly the same error. For Scott’s edification, here’s what I’ve learned in my own troubleshooting of this plugin …
From PayPal tech support (after a 1-hour call):
1. My PayPal account is properly set up for digital media sales.
2. All my API codes are correct.
3. When testing the plugin, PayPal is getting the API calls, sending the Express Checkout token, then it breaks down for some reason.
4. Their conclusion was that it’s either my linux hosting service (GoDaddy) running the wrong version of PHP, or an issue with the plugin code in either encrypt_url.php or paypalfunctions.php.So then I called GoDaddy tech support. They tell me my linux hosting server is running PHP v5.3. I could get up to PHP v5.5 by switching to their C-panel hosting for not much additional cost, but I’m trying here first to see if maybe Scott has made any progress on this 4-month-old topic.
Curiously, on a StackExchange discussion I found this thread that says one person resolved this error by upgrading to a server that runs PHP v5.6. Alas, that is not yet an option with GoDaddy since they never rush into upgrades until the latest version has been thoroughly tested.
Here’s that discussion: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1912029/warning-cannot-modify-header-information-headers-already-sent-by-error
So I’m posting all this in the hope that Scott can check things on his end. On that same StackExchange post someone mentions that when the plugin PHP files are created, they need to be saved as “UTF-8 without BOM” (whatever that means). That solved someone elses problem with this same error, but he was modding Scott’s PHP.
How about it Scott? Any further insights on this issue? I like everything else about this plugin, and I checked several other plugins for digital media sales. This one was the easiest to configure and use. Now I just want to start selling digital media. Thanks!
OK, I’m back to report on the results of your suggestions. All but two members are now receiving automated post notifications. They are both using Earthlink for their emails. None of the other members are.
Even after adding the email address associated with SUBSCRIBE2 (which has the same domain) to their contact list (white list) they still are not receiving the emails. They aren’t finding them in their spam folders. And I’m not getting any bounce-backs.
Talked to both Earthlink and GoDaddy (who hosts the blog) and they are clueless. Running outa things to try here.
FYI: The email template is simple HTML with a single hyperlink to the new post included. Any ideas?
Thanks. I missed that option. Didn’t scroll down far enough on the page. So I ran that “bulk subscription” option and sent a test post. Waiting to hear back from the club members on whether it worked. Will post results here as soon as I’m sure they all received that automated post notification.
