Note: This is a multisite environment, and this one site has over 400 users, so going through PHP MyAdmin is not a solution, unless someone can tell me how to filter the users from this sub site from the other running sites….

In reply to: [Gutenberg] Should not be part of core. Will I be forced to use this? I have HUNDREDS of sites out there. To go and install the Classic plugin is just not on. Will Gutenberg make itself the active theme by default? I use Headway/Blox, Storefront, and many other themes.

In reply to: Could not establish a secure connection to www.ads-software.com.I’m having the same issue, NOT on a local server. It’s my server, in that I’m not shared on GoDaddy or something. This is the only site out of dozens that is having the issue. WP 4.9.1, tried turning off all plugins, reverting to default WP theme, etc. Host says connection is fine, newest SQL, etc.

Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Multisite Network Screen Disappeared…Addition:
Not only do I not have a Network admin area, neither of the sites has a Plugins link at all. Normally there’s one so you can at least see what’s active on the sites.

In reply to: Bluehost AutoUpdate – Deleted Themes Folder – Can't access wp-adminI was able to do the manual update. The funny part is that after I uploaded the wp-includes and wp-admin directories I went to do the wp-content files. That’s when I noticed there was no index.php file in that directory at all!
I uploaded that and it was fixed.Somewhere in the auto-update Bluehost did they also trashed the plugins. But the list is shown in the admin pages so I can re-install.
Thanks!

In reply to: Bluehost AutoUpdate – Deleted Themes Folder – Can't access wp-adminThat sucks. Bluehost does have a backup – from right after they updated – ha!
I have done everything else Tara suggested too.
Manually updating is….not fun.

In reply to: Bluehost AutoUpdate – Deleted Themes Folder – Can't access wp-adminStrangely I can access Headway’s grid interface via the admin bar. But anything else, like Widgets, ends up at a white screen and URL similar to this:
https://paih2o.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2Fwidgets.php

In reply to: Bluehost AutoUpdate – Deleted Themes Folder – Can't access wp-adminThe wp-login gets me to the login box, but then right to the blank page.
I am logged in though, as the admin bar is visible on the site, just none of the links go anywhere. But the /options.php URL redirects to this, with a white screen:
https://paih2o.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2Foptions.php

In reply to: Generate Password "Feature"Unfortunately, and this happens a lot with these sites, plugins cannot be deactivated or the site just goes down. There are a lot of restrictions and roles, etc. so that these trucker guys don’t mess around.
But, if it’s a javascript conflict then I can’t be the only one. The sites worked flawlessly before the 4.3 upgrade, so the blame should be on WP to fix the conflict.

In reply to: Generate Password "Feature"Absolutely, as WP.org just decided to do it and if the forums are any indicator, it’s loathed by many. It’s not up to WP to determine how people should secure their sites.
We are literally not going to be able to run businesses properly because of it.

In reply to: Generate Password "Feature"Bad practice or not, that’s how it’s always been and always will be.
The situation is these are company stores. They are open to employees – truckers – for a short time every couple of months. These guys don’t have email addresses, so even if the mail system was working properly, which I have to assume it is, they’d never get it. Not even that, but their user accounts have FAKE emails; [email protected], etc.
Not only that, but they have so much turnover that every quarter we delete all the users and do a bulk import from a csv. How is that going to be affected, as we have a column with the passwords we create.
The people who manage these guys are far from computer literate, and will never be able to figure out how to change the passwords now.
This screencast shows the Generate button doing nothing, and not allowing manual password change. I did find a hack where I turn off javascscript to again show the two password boxes, but that’s hardly a solution, especially if the managers are doing it. They’d never figure it out.
Spoke too soon. Now we get the “success” – and the message goes to the ContactDB plugin – but no emails ever arrive. This is a BUG. I have the same issue on a totally different server and with the DEFAULT theme.
RESOLVED. For me, anyway. Noticed today there’s an update to 3.4, and the “forever spinning arrows” are gone, and the Success or other messages appear! I KNEW it wasn’t the theme…
