Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Submit for ReviewThanks…it didn’t work. WordPress is being really buggy and strange…
What i did was, (logged in as admin) I went to Users > Add New. filled out the form to manually create a new user, making sure to set the role as Administrator. Done. Went to the Users panel. I see me, admin, with my role as Administrator. Then beneath that is supposedly this new user I created but the username I created for it doesn’t show (there is nothing there in that field in other words) in fact all the fields are blank. And although I checked the box to send an email to the new user (of course, using a different email than the admin’s email) I checked and no email was ever received at that email address.
I am willing to start from fresh even if it means losing my current blog (I could at least copy and paste the entry text into Word so I have my writings saved before loosing them on wordpress) but I wonder if that would even help. ???

In reply to: Submit for ReviewYes, all plugins are deactivated and I am using the Twenty Ten 1.1 theme. WordPress version is 3.0.4. And I am logged in as admin.
So no ideas? ??

In reply to: Submit for ReviewThank You, esmi and Curtiss. I followed your instructions precisely (following the directions of the downloading the latest WordPress package and instructions for Manual Update. Made sure not to overwrite my wp-content folder, just the individual files inside of it. went smoothly.)
And after that, I still have the Submit for Review button.
Oh and I didn’t have that “mu-plugins” folder in my wp-content folder so no issue there.
Any more ideas? This has really got me stumped. :/

In reply to: Submit for ReviewOk, great. I’m sorry but what is the best way to reupload all files & folders, except the wp-content folder? Go into Filezilla, cut all the files from the directory and then paste them back in??

In reply to: Submit for ReviewOh-I was digging around and this might help…
in my blog’s file manager, under “wp-admin/post-new.php” it more or less says the the following message:
Since you’re a newcomer, you’ll have to wait for an admin to add theedit_posts
capability to your user, in order to be authorized to post.
When you’re promoted, just reload this page and you’ll be able to blog. Not sure why I am a newcomer all of a sudden and I’ve posted as admin 87 times already…maybe it has to do with the fact that my site was deactivated for a brief period of time and then reactivated again…but yeah, I wonder where I add the “edit posts” code to…somewhere in the wp_capability maybe??

In reply to: Submit for ReviewHello,

So that is as it should be…
Any more ideas.

In reply to: Submit for ReviewThank You…umm, again I am not much of a developer yet so I am not familiar with databases and the like…but I did a google search for PhpMyAdmin, downloaded the program, and now have its folder on my desktop with a bunch of files. Not sure what to make of all of it. I don’t see anything like “phpmyadmin.exe” which if I saw that I’d know that is what I click to get the program installed and running…however…I’m just…lost.
There isn’t anyway to get to this meta-value through Filezilla is there?
Thank You for not giving up and for your patience.

In reply to: Submit for ReviewThank you for the support, Ipstenu.
Well, using Filezilla I actually managed to reset the plugins folder. It went smoothly. however, sadly, I still have the Submit for Review button and no publish button.
Any suggestions on where to go from here? Would be much appreciated.

In reply to: Submit for ReviewThank You for your response, esmi.
I tried the things you listed, except resetting the plugins folder…none of it worked.
I am really not much of a developer yet so I do not want to tangle with resetting my plugins folder or ftp of prhadmin, quite frankly.Just out of curiousity, were these things the solution for other people who had a problem with this in the past?
If I can’t fix this, is it possible to start fresh and not have this same problem. My webhost is Mediatemple and I use 1-click applications…
Thanks.

In reply to: WordPress.com Themes Not Available?Thank You, jeremyboyd, but this is what I mean: when I go to the link you provided, and search for the theme, it is not found.
The good news however is I was able to track down Cutline theme to download. So, I was able to install and activate it. A happy ending.
