Very helpful. Thank you very much.

I’m non technical, so it’s hard for me to read these things, so appreciate the tip on Dokan and WooCommerce with Pre-Sale Plugin.

I’ve read some scathing reviews on here about ID, so obviously yours isn’t an isolated case.

Woo seem to be the guys to go for. They were recently acquired by Automattic, so that means things should only grow from now on.

That said, I sincerely hope ID do continue to grow because it’s good to have a competitor to Woo – keep them on their toes. Here’s hoping they have learned from the various bad reviews and it will be reflected in their product and processes.

    Best regards,
    Dylan Robertson

seem to think you might be in cahoots with them.

I have zero connection with Ignition Deck, but what I do see are a lot of non-technical people who don’t take the time to read the fine print, do proper research, and have unrealistic expectations blaming the developer of plugins/themes. So, I’m trying to ascertain which camp you’re in. Are you a programmer/developer by background? Or, is everything IgnitionDeck’s fault?

The Comment on Hostgator seems demeaning by the way

When I last used Hostgator, about 5 years ago, they fit the description I gave. Perhaps things have changed? Hostgator worked fine for me when I literaly had just a 1-page site, but I’d never use it for anything where reliability and performance was important to me.

yes I chose a cheap solution to get my site off the ground.. with intentions to increase power as needed when I have traffic! Can you blame me there?

Personally, I’d rather start with a decent host from the beginning. Otherwise, migration will give you a lot of problems. wpEngine has a $25 plan, which is affordable and their added value features and services make it very worthwhile. I’ve found that cheap hosting gives you more trouble than the savings are worth.

Crowdfunding is nothing more than a glamorous way of pre-selling (wooCommerce does this VERY well). Mixed in with Dokan you can have a much more viable pre-selling environment with self registering “vendors” with more open options..

Interesting. WooCommerce certainly seems to have a good reputation. I found this too:

Maybe another plugin was conflicting with it?

Not sure what else to tell you…

    Sorry I can’t be of more help…

Thanks. After all that drama, I decided that your Publisher theme was a better fix, so if you look at my site now, you’ll see it’s using Publisher ??

Darn you guys make some nice themes… ??

    Thank you very much.

BTW, I used the plugin and it worked very well. Appreciate it.

    +1 for this!

    Love the theme!

    Question:
If I were to upload a pic over 900px width, will WP automatically resize it to 900px?

The reason why I ask is because at some point in the future, I may want to change themes to one that displays the images larger.

Sorry, I’m new to how this works…

Thank you very much for the quick reply and thank you so much for this fantastic theme … for FREE!!! It truly is a work of art.

BTW, I sent an inquiry about customizing Publisher via your website a few days ago. When you get a chance, please get back to me. No rush – just want to make sure it wasn’t lost in the ether ??

Giving them a 1-star review for this fantastic product that they offer for free just because it doesn’t have a certain feature is not cool.

I am considering your enterprise package and corresponding valet service.

    You said:

we do encourage that customers have a suitable budget for the preparation and launch of their platform.

Can you please advise what you would regard to be a suitable budget for the preparation and launch of a crowdfunding platform? Also, is there somewhere online where you have given this advice in the past? If so, can you please post the link?

I want to create an Indiegogo style site focused on the yoga niche.

People would be able to crowdfund a wide variety of projects including:
    – Funding their yoga teacher training
    – Funding the setup and establishment of a yoga studio
    – Funding a yoga retreat
    – Funding a new line of yoga wear or accessories
    – Funding production of a documentary about yoga
    – Funding the renewal of their studio’s website
    – Funding production of a yoga class video series
    – Funding the design and manufacture of a new kind of yoga mat
    – Funding a charity yoga program for disadvantaged people
    etc.

What kind of budget did you have in mind? What am I missing here?

    @virtuousgiant
If self-proclaimed programmers can’t get ID to work, what approach do you recommend for me, a non-technical person to take? Can you elaborate on the common misunderstandings in terms of expectations that people often have with your enterprise package, valet service, etc.?

    @sourceminer

I am seriously considering their enterprise package and valet service, so reviews like yours concern me.

Can you give further details on what was the problem?

Were you trying to do something exotic that IgnitionDeck is not really designed for, or where you just trying to do the standard basic setup?

Also, why would you use HostGator? My image of them is that they offer cheap and low performance hosting for individuals who just need a quick and simple solution for small, low traffic sites. I don’t think of them as suitable for hosting a site that you want to grow into a real EC business such as a crowdfunding site.

Looking back, would you say that the problem was your having not taken the time to properly study the offering and having unrealistic expectations, or was the problem that IgnitionDeck is not up to par and offers poor support?

Great. I’m sure the above information was on your website somewhere. Was probably staring me in the face and I missed it.

Wow, I see Ron has ignored my advice and now this plugin has a 1.1 star average approval rating.

Such a shame because I have heard great things about Scribe.

Thank you very much for the quick response.

Good points. I think, in that case, since my technical skills aren’t good enough to do that, I’ll go for a specialized WP landing page theme for this project.

I’ll be using Longform on another project soon, though, in its original intended form.

I also note that your icon/logo isn’t looking so good.

A lot of plugins seem to have this issue, whereas others have a very smart logo.

Sorry, just trying to help you get more users and hopefully it will end up with more money in your pocket at the end of the day.
