Ok, tried three themes:

NewStone (By Terry Lin)
TwentyEleven (comes with WP)
TwentyTwelve (comes with WP)

I still see all three posts on the main page when I am logged out. I should have permissions to none of them (as _Visitor role)

Do the checkboxes under “Posts and Taxonomies” hide the posts from these users? Unchecked, the users can see the postings.

OMG I just figured it out. You must check the boxes for the stuff you want to block for that role — This seems backwards to me, but works perfectly. Why was this not listed ANYWHERE? PLEASE make some documentation and save future users the headache of having to discover this on their own!

Thanks to the search, try this. I was going crazy until I found this gem!

I’ve had the same issues as most here, here is what i found on:

Try adding the following line at the top (the very first line) of .htaccess :
Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch

It seemed to work for me.

No admin-settings I’ve modifies would cause a redirect. I’m having trouble getting the redirects for the permilinks working too. Wonder if the two are somehow related?

I’m having trouble installing this. It won’t load the admin screens. If I try to visit the admin area from the plugins page, I get “Cannot load image-headlines.php.”. If I try from the options area, I get “The requested URL /wp-admin/image-headlines.php was not found on this server.”

Can anyone help??
