Okay, I got the latest version of the theme working somewhat. I can add a new post and it’ll show up on the website. There’s a problem that the Automattic people are aware of and are working on: when you post a new comic, it gives you error messages, even though it seems to have worked.

So I’m pretty happy. It’s a nice looking theme, it’s mostly working (and they’re working on a fix), and it’s free.

felknar: if you figure out the archive stuff, can you post the answer here?

I contacted the makers of the theme, and they acknowledge that the theme is not ready to be used like that. They said they are working on a fix, and that it was coming soon, but that was two weeks ago and there’s been nothing.

I tried contacting them, but they’re sending me back here because my site isn’t hosted at wordpress.com.

    This is frustrating…

Oh, okay. So I guess I’ll have to contact Automattic.

    Sorry about that.

Yup, changing a comic post makes it not appear. I tried changing which image a comic was displaying, and the comic no longer showed.

I was using the Easel theme. I just deleted the post and did it all over again, and it worked. Maybe saving a post in a bad state, then going back and fixing things, isn’t the best way to create a comic on Comic Easel? I don’t know. Either way, it’s working now.

I’ve actually switched to a different theme, and I have it working there too.

    Thanks!

Okay, I figured out that I was using the wrong theme. But I still don’t have it working.

I posted a new Comic, set the featured image, and all that, and I see my new post with the comic in it. But (1) the comic is too small in the blog post and (2) I wanted a large version of the comic across the top of the website anyway (like dilbert.com or pvponline.com). Is that not supposed to happen?

Also, is it possible to use the plugin with a different theme? The instructions made it seem like I could, but when I used a different theme there was no “featured image” option.

Thanks! So I hit “Add Comic”, and there’s all sorts of stuff there to add a comic, which looks great. But in the top right corner it says “To add a comic image, use the featured image link to add a featured image. After it uploads, click the “use as featured image”.

I don’t understand. What’s the whole purpose of the “Add Comic” page if it isn’t even used? And where is this “featured image link”? I can’t find it.

In case you’re wondering, I’ve successfully installed the Comic Easel plugin – I see the “Comic Easel News” on the Dashboard. But I don’t see any Settings page for Comic Easel, or a way to edit options in the Plugins area. Is there one?

I used the plugin to redirect a Feedburner feed. I had just signed up for Feedburner, so everything is new. The plugin seemed to do everything correctly, things went smoothly.

Now what? Is everybody now using my Feedburner feeds instead of the normal ones? My Feedburner stats show that nobody is using them. I know this is incorrect. How can I tell if I subscribe to one of my site’s feeds that it is going through Feedburner?

I know what a feed is. I know what Feedburner does. I know the purpose of the indirect, I just don’t know the mechanics. But now I’m lost.

    Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem. My ads are always about LCD monitors even though I’ve got a ton of content on other stuff on my main page. If I click on the ‘May’ archives link, then all the same blog entries show up (giving almost exactly the same page as before) but then I get good AdSense ads. Weird. Not just your laptop – I found it a little hard to read too.

But all in all it’s a great improvement.

You noticed that! Yes, I did that on purpose. Thanks for taking a look.

Oh, and I resolved my other problem by remapping my domain through my provider. So although I would still like the links changed, they aren’t as damaging anymore.

It looks like posting the URL of my blog before getting a domain name for it was a mistake. Google thinks it’s duplicate content. Is there any way I can edit my posts above to remove/change the URLs?

    Worked like a charm, thanks:

Now I just need to find a proper domain name….
