In reply to: Database Connection ProblemYahoo hosts my sites and I’ve been having problems with them lately. Apparently they cannot support WordPress versions higher than 2.3. I cannot access my site right now and it keeps redirecting me to a “install WordPress” page and this came at me out of nowhere. When I ask Yahoo they just throw up their hands and say, you upgraded we can’t help you.
My first advice is back up your posts by exporting them. Also, make sure you save a copy of your theme file. This way, even if you have to create a new blog, you can keep your posts and theme. That’s what I had to do the first time I had your problem and it turned out to be easier than trying to fix the problem. Good luck.

In reply to: WordPress Keeps Asking Me to Install WordPressThanks for the suggestion. It seems maybe I hot some sort of snag with an auto-update plug-in but I don’t know how to undo it. Yahoo hosts my site and don’t have access so the sql database (at least none that I’m aware of). I’ve been having nothing but problems with them lately which, until know, have all been on their end — mysql issues. They insist this time it’s not on their end, though. Anyway, I have a back-up from 3 days ago, so I won’t lose too much if it comes down to creating a new site. If you have any ideas on what to do with the above file, though, please share. Thanks.

In reply to: Database Connection ProblemOut of curiosity, do you use a third party host for your site?

In reply to: can’t edit or create posts after upgrade to 2.6Me too, but I couldn’t create new posts even before I upgraded. Is there something else going on out there?
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Upgrading from 2.0.2 to 2.6?I did it… My theme is the same, but I lost my categories. You can edit them by goign directly to the url for editing a specific cat (search these forums for more). Also, make sure you take note of deleting the COLLATE and UTF-8 line from the config.php. Otherwise, you’ll get all kinds of characters in your posts. Also, TinyMCE doesn’t seem to be working — haven’t figured that one out yet.
And of course, I also can’t post (but I couldn’t before I updated either… it’s why I updated in the first place). Good luck!

In reply to: WP 2.5.1 – Can’t make new posts nowI didn’t even upgrade. I just cannot post. When I click the save, save and edit or publish button it reloads the write post screen only know everything is gone and there’s no record of the post anywhere.
