In reply to: [Analytics Spam Blocker] Unable to register website – Invalid RequestHi, so I deactivated Analytics Spam Blocker and then reactivated. I went to its settings page and clicked “register this website” as before and got the same error message:
Something went wrong registering your website. Please review the error below and try again.
error – INVALID REQUEST (16 November 2019 10:06)
Any more thoughts?

In reply to: Facebook URLs cannot be crawledI will ask, but I honestly don’t think it’s a Yoast problem, as nothing has changed there. Thanks.

In reply to: Facebook URLs cannot be crawledActually, I am already using Yoast and have been since the start. This problem has never arisen before. Posts have always, until now, displayed perfectly on fb. What’s interesting is that if I try to repost things that displayed perfectly in the past, they will now show the same errors as the new posts do.

In reply to: Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errorsFound a family friend who was able to do what you suggested, and teach me how, and it worked. Thank you for your help! And for being patient with a newbie.

In reply to: Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errorsI do have access to the dashboard’s appearance page. When I try to make the change there, that’s when I get the “Unable to communicate back with site…” message.
As I said, I started to try what you suggested and went to my hosting account’s control panel, navigated to the file where the problem code is, and when I clicked on edit, a window popped up that stated:
“Back up the original file before converting character sets, since this action can produce unexpected results.
If encodings are not important to you because you will only be working with English or other Western languages, you can disable this dialog by clicking here: Disable Encoding Check
Please select the character encoding to use when opening this file: ”
I don’t know what some of this means, so as I said, it feels out of my depth and likely that I would cause further problems.
Do you think this is the only way to fix the issue? If so, I am probably better off hiring someone with a lot more experience to do it.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] WarningsThe issue just resolved itself somehow. If someone was working behind the scenes, thank you!

In reply to: Comments not workingOk, and now the person who originally alerted me to the problem is finally able to get her comments through. I don’t know if this is ironing itself out on its own or, more likely, you are working behind the scenes and got it fixed. So thank you, George! So much appreciated! Happy Friday!

In reply to: Comments not workingSomeone who is not on WP just commented successfully, so now I don’t know what is the pattern defining those who can and those who cannot comment.

In reply to: Comments not workingHi George, yes, see above. And thank you very much for taking a look!

In reply to: Comments not workingLooks like someone there at WP just left a test comment (thank you) and it worked. So I had a friend who is not on WP try again, and no luck.
No, we’re not understanding each other. Thanks for trying to help. I’ll find a workaround.
