  • While I do like my plugins/themes updated regularly, I have been using WP QuickLaTeX for the past 2 years, including personalized preamble, lots of natively drawn TikZ pictures, new commands for abbreviations and environments…on multiple websites that have an educational background and have never run into any problem (including the bug you described). So far I have not come accross anything that comes even close to what QuickLaTeX has to offer, so I guess I should wish you ‘Good Luck’ on your quest to find ‘something better’.

I am with All-Inkl and everything works fine.

When you set up your page accordingly, you can just use the usual LaTeX syntax, so $x^2+1=0$ will display as an inline formula, \begin{align}x^2+1=0\end{align} will give an align-environment. The table on the page you linked is a LaTeX table (which will be inserted as an image into your page, so be careful with that).

You might also want to take a look here: Quick Introduction

Can you describe what you are going for in more detail? There are many ways to achieve a cheat sheet, so a quick solution if you e.g. want to just have a big list with all the formulas:

    1. Install and activate WP QuickLaTeX
    2. If needed customize your preamble and load additional packages (for most mathematical formulas you should be fine with the default settings)
    3. Create a new page and name it e.g. “Cheat Sheet”
    4. If you don’t use the option for sitewide LaTeX syntax, put “[latexpage]” (without quotation marks) at the top of your page
    5. Create a list with formula and explanation per entry; you can use the usual LaTeX syntax in every entry

This can of course be tweaked in various ways (using spoilers instead of the list; having different pages for different subjects like geometry or linear algebra…).

Are you asking how to do that in general or specifically online? I would answer both questions with yes, though for an offline cheat sheet with LaTeX you should ask in another forum.

For an online solution you should be able to use WP QuickLaTeX (maybe after loading additional packages) to fill in the formulas you need in whatever layout you want the cheat sheet to be (list, table etc.).

    Hello again,

I was in contact with the theme developers again and the issue seems to be resolved. The fix will be added in the next update of the theme.

    Hi again,

this is where/how the filter was added: Link
Is this correct? If yes, there seems to be another problem as the problem persists.

For now I might go for a combined usage of JetPack for questions and WP QuickLaTeX for everything else on the website. If in the future there is a complete solution for QuickLaTeX that fixes this problem, I would of course switch back! Thank you so far for the support!

As of now I am not using JetPack Math for anything. This is what the theme developers suggested to do as this should work with everything their theme offers. I will look into Jetpack if there is no other way though (and will still use QuickLaTeX for everything else).

I set your account to “Admin”, so if you feel to look around and play with the theme/quiz yourself, please do so. I am still hoping that somehow it will get sorted out…do you think it would be worth to aim for a collaboration with the developers to include QuickLaTeX as a native plugin in the theme for every math related subjects?

Of course. A test quiz can be found on my dummy site Quiz

You might have to register to get full access (you can also contact me via this form and I will create an admin account for you).

While taking the quiz, the formulas get displayed fine. However, once you are done with the quiz and want to see the results, there is the possibility to include an explanation on how to get to this answer. The question still displays everything fine, but in this explanation box no pictures are rendered.

Then, if you leave the answer page and maybe later want to check back on your answers via the user dashboard -> Courses -> Results, even the question gets messed up, because it seems that some of the backslashes get removed (resulting in code like $begin{pmatrix} 1 end{pmatrix}$ instead of $\begin{pmatrix} 1 \end{pmatrix}$).

I hope this makes it clearer and if there is any more information you need, I’m happy to provide it!

    Hi,

I have contacted the developers of the theme and they responded:

Okay thanks for confirming this . We have now applied the _content filter to our explanation in your site. Now the plugin should evaluate the shortcode and show the picture .
same fix will be added in next update of wplms theme and vibe course module plugin .

Unfortunately it still doesn’t work right and I was told

Well we have already applied the the_content filter on the explanation as suggested by the author .Now please contact this third party plugin author it is not working .
I would still recommend you using jetpack beautiful math addon for that .

Do you have any more insight? I really don’t want to use jetpack, even if it was just for the sake of using it in questions/explanations, because it just doesn’t offer me the full LaTeX potential.

I’ve heard back from the developers. Can you tell me which filter should be run on custom post types content?

Thank you very much! I contact the developers of the theme again with these information!

@nsaral can you elaborate on the allowing HTML? Where do I find this option?

Edit: Don’t mind me, I thought you meant a global setting, but it seems to be you meant the checkbox on each individual answer you type in.

Alright, that does sound at least promising. I want to use/convince the professors I am working for to use WordPress for this new website as the current system is just plain bad, and your Plugin so far gives me all the tools I need for user management.

Of course I can’t promise anything, but if it were my decision, we’d implement your premium version, especially the user tracking and invite codes would be extremely useful.

    Hi,

a simple “Yes/No/Working on it/Planned for the future” would do it right now. I am looking for possibilities to create a new website for university students and definitely need a Membership plugin and would like to have an easy method to sent news about new courses etc. to the students.

I know that you already offer integration of Mailchimp as an extension, but this is of no use to us (data stored outside the university/outside the country is not allowed because of information privacy rules).
