Thanks for the suggestion./ Thwe reason I asked the question in a crude way is that I did not know exactly which direction to take and which theme to use for easier handling.

My knowledge of PHP is non-existent. However, I can play with HTML and CSS.

I am using the WordPress’s built in menu system. In fact, I tried to give the actual link to where I wanted the menu items to go But had no luck

I am trying to make sense of what you mentioned. As a matter of fact, , I know how to create pages and menus. However, I am at a loss whether I should create pages for top navigation or menus. Currently, I have menus listing up in the navigation. But the links are not going anywhere. On the other hand, if I create pages, I can immediately get links to the pages I have created.

sorry to harass you again. While trying to make sense of the links between static pages and blog, I am getting the following message.

However, I have a question which may be unrelated to what my original question has been. If I want a complete flexibility on the design of a site, is it a MUST for me to have separate static pages and then add WP blog to the rostrum?

Thanks for being patient and shame on me. I tried to add custom menus. But the main nav bar disappeared and I could not see any custom menus which I had created. How strange???

Thank you for the great advice. Actually, I have already created a child theme as you advised. However, forgot to mention it in the post.

Actually, due to design issues, I want to run some static pages separate from the WP blog. However, when a visitor clicks on the blog link in the main navigation of the site, the blog should show the same navigation as on the static pages. I am not sure where to insert the navigation links on the blog and how?

Was a kind of wondering whether someone would be willing to advise me on how to handle the issue I discussed earlier. My earlier post was related to a Web site which has mostly non-WordPress static pages. However, there is a link to the WordPressblog as a part of the navigation. I want the latest blog entry heading along with its corresponding image to show up on the static pages. These static pages are not a part of the WordPress. They were created separately. Could anyone let me know how to do that?
