Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: 2.01 to 2.03, can’t navigate to Theme filesAs i said above, the theme files and folder are set to 775. I tried testing with 666 but this returned a completely blank site, and didn’t solve the problem of re-routing the theme editor file links to the homepage.
I’m seriously considering returning to 2.01. (yeahyeah it has vulnerabilities, but the new site is uneditable.)

In reply to: 2.01 to 2.03, can’t navigate to Theme filesYes, seems to be normal. Have edited some posts and theme looks the way it should. I tried chmodding to 777 just to see, but that caused a “500 error”. Currently all of wp-admin folder is chmod to 775 (including theme-editor.php), The theme folder is also 100% chmod 775.
I looked at .htaccess because I remember it can be used to re-direct urls, but it doesn’t seem to be anything.
Rest of admin area seems normal too, so far…
Any ideas?

In reply to: Plugins only working for logged in users ?“Now i have found the support posts and suggestions here in the forums to get WP to show ‘all’ posts in the future via a plugin (by Michael Moncur), this plugin was only designed for users that were logged in….”
This doesn’t help with your plugin, but according to the website that hosts the VIEW FUTURE POSTS plugin, you can modify two variables:
$future_min_level—the minimum user level required to view future posts. The default is 10 (administrators). Set this to zero to allow everyone (even anonymous users) to view future posts.
$future_single_only—if set to true (default), future posts are available from their unique permalink only. If set to false, future posts appear on the categories, archives, and the home page.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Help for plugin “Category Visibility 0.31”Try David Coppit‘s Category-Access plugin instead (scroll to bottom of page to find download). I use it on my site and it doesn’t affect the pages at all even though I’ve hidden my “Uncategorized” category.

In reply to: Is it possible to have too many Categories?Michael_, what a great idea! Thank you for this “retrofit” plugin!

In reply to: Is it possible to have too many Categories?nabnuts, have you seen Ultimate Tag Warrior? I’ve chosen to simplify my categories to less than 10 (still use them for general sorting, private areas, and for certain plugins) and use tags extensively instead. UTW tags have advantages over categories, like dropdown menus in the admin (you are expected to use LOTS of tags), self-sorting dynamic tag clouds, and related posts links.
You can see it used on my site.

In reply to: cat2email – Trying??Ahh, thanks Yaco. That error is gone now.
According to Skippy’s reply on the website, I think you are supposed to point notification to a mailling list, not an individual email. Haven’t got it working either (yet) but will try with the new version.

In reply to: cat2email – Trying??Trying to manage cat2email. but get this error when attempting to add new notification:

Is anyone using this plugin? Help configuring and managing this plugin would be greatly appreciated!!

In reply to: Can only one catagory be displayed on home page? This is similar to what I need, but in addition I would need to have a “page2” that only displays “category2”. Kind of a cheap way to do a multiblog
hmmm. Once you have enough posts in the two categories I think the “page2” idea won’t work, but you might try looking over these category template docs and see if something there might get you started:

In reply to: Plugin Request: Subscribe to Category – Notifier and RSSI’m trying CAT2EMAIL but I get this error:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in …/www/www/wp-content/plugins/cat2email.php on line 98Is there a troubleshoot forum or any help links on cat2email? I don’t think I’m getting the full page under Admin–>Manage–>Category2email because there are no working fields and what is there doesn’t make much sense.
thanks!

In reply to: Can only one catagory be displayed on home page? You just need to start googling “wordpress plugin front page categories”

In reply to: Multiple Categories or Sub-Categories, which is better?“clicking on a category name it will display all the post in that cat AND all its children”….
Yes, except I used the CategoryOrder plugin to re-order them as I chose, hence “psuedo-subcategory”. I suppose to most bloggers my order would be counter-intuitive, based on the way subcategories are expected to behave…?

In reply to: External links pluginLegolas,
I’ve been using Zap’s NewWindow plugin:
https://www.zappelfillip.de/index.php/2005-12-05/zap_newwindow/It doesn’t make the little “arrow leaving the box” icon appear next to an external link, but otherwise works just fine.
