In reply to: Broken site with any themeNot sure exactly what I did but it is working now. Even with another theme than Twenty Twenty.
I read some of an article that said this latest WordPress update fixed a lot of broken websites. But I reloaded, cleared cache, etc and it wasn’t fixed.
I’ve done all this before but this time it worked.
I deactivated all plugins. (the only ones on were the same ones on all my other sites)
I activated the Twenty Seventeen theme (has sidebar).
Aaaaand it worked.I then reactivated the plugins, one at a time, and it worked. Installed another theme, and it is still working.
So….not sure what happened but I guess it is fixed? Going to give it 24hrs before I declare it resolved.

In reply to: Broken site with any themeThe site does have a security certificate.
Let’s Encrypt Certificate
This certificate is valid and currently in-use with servicedawgs.org.If that were the case, then the https wouldn’t work for admin, either, right? I tried http address and it just shifted to https. I changed the Settings>General to http and it still went to https. Okay, just got a page to load with http. The certificate lock now has a red line through it. Site still broken.
I use broken link checker and it says there are none. But I will check. But why would broken links break this site? Just in case I misunderstood, what “resources” do you refer to?

In reply to: Static page with link to posts?Yep! That worked! Thanks!
I knew how to create a static front page so I didn’t look up any information on that. I was so focused on the link possibility.

In reply to: [WP Accessibility] Toolbar doesn’t appearHuh. It’s fixed it’s broken images. Yay. But still in the way. Boo. How do I move it?
(realized I could edit this vs putting yet another post)
I put an image above the text and boom, everything shifted down enough that it isn’t covered. Hoot!
But, still, is there a way to move it? There’s nothing on the right. So there’s plenty of room for it.

In reply to: [WP Accessibility] Toolbar doesn’t appearOkay. That mostly worked. It is on the left but covers up some of the text (the sidebar is on the left. And it’s just two broken images.
LOL Now I need to move it. Sigh, I’m never going to get this website going.
Is the font really necessary since everyone can just use ctrl + scroll? Just curious.

In reply to: Re-installation: install.php will not runThe hacker somehow got code into the functions.php file of a child theme. I had permissions set correctly, or I thought I did. Did it to both sites where I had a child theme.
And yes, I will put the Resolved in the subject line.
Thank you for your help!

In reply to: Re-installation: install.php will not runSorry. I broke my glasses and could not read my computer.
Oh. Whatever Ipstenu did worked. I am no longer getting error messages. The one about the cert is gone. And uploading themes/plugins do not generate an error message either. Both are listed in the first post.
I love Dreamhost and their staff. Been with them since ’02. It is their new scanning capabilities that caught the problems before I did.
What security plugin should I be using? AIO did not catch these on either of the two sites which is why DH thinks it was an FTP issue, although I don’t.

In reply to: Re-installation: install.php will not runYes, the certificate file is there. I have no clue what the etc/ssl/certs path is.
I checked with my webhost (DreamHost) and the certificate is still valid.
I have changed every single password on every single site I run several times. What was happening this time was some sort of leftover javascript was still running on occasion and I could not find it.
The website is functioning. I can install the theme, make changes and everything. It is there, viewable. I just get these error messages now.

In reply to: need to delete and reinstall – how?My webhost thinks it was doing via my FTP user but I’m not sure. I’ve changed all my passwords. I completely reinstalled the smaller of the two sites and that went well. I’m hesitant to do the larger as the database for it is quite large. I use AIO WP Security and Firewall. It didn’t alert me to the changed or inserted files because the dates of the files were set to be several years old. Or that is my theory.
Thanks for the information! I am reading both and going to implement all I can.

In reply to: [Twenty Ten] Decreasing margin above headerDid you try removing the margin-top line? And/or the padding line below it? Do one or the other, not both at the same time. That way you know which one fixed it.

In reply to: [A11Y'all] How to get full post and not excerptThat worked!
Much thanks.

In reply to: [Catch Evolution] change link colourDo a search for /* Links */ . Or line 441 if you have a text editor that shows that.
Right after that you’ll see the link color right below it. That’s the one I changed.
