Hello, I was having a similar problem installing the classic and default theme yesterday. I got a message saying I was missing a style sheets folder. So, I went into my cpanel, wp-contents>themes, and deleted the copies of default and classic themes I had in there, and then went back to Appearance>add new themes to reinstall the 2 themes.

Seeing some positive results here, after changing to default permalinks settings. However, after resetting custom permalinks to /%category%/%postname% problem persists. ??

Classic theme activated, but still having the same problem. Even after I deactivated plugins.

Got this message after activating default theme.

Oh Dear, as i try to reinstall default I see a message saying:

Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
Name Description
classic Stylesheet is missing.
default Stylesheet is missing.

so I cant install default theme.

Do you think I should deactivate my plugins, and see if that helps?

Thanks Ericmann, I was trying to kill a dead bird here.

I usually do it the way you explained. I thought I could transfer files the same way as I do with themes. i.e. using Filezilla.

BTW, if I am using Thesis theme, does that make a difference how I need to upload images?
